I see what you mean there, though as I said further up, the O's in "POLICE TELEPHONE" are not round, as the ones further down, could it be a different font there?

I just remember something said by Philip Segal, the producer, years ago saying the sign door was hand painted, but was based on real fonts.  It is possible they used the same font, but used a different U.  WHat is the font used on the Hartnell TARDIS?  Doesn't it also have a straight right sides U?  Perpetua?

At the risk of me repeating one my earlier replies to a similar question regarding this topic, I give you:

You'll find a post devoted to this one panel, courtesy of Scarfwearer, on the first page of this thread.

Yes, I know....

Been there, looked at the thread, downloaded the font, played with it (admittedly only in word) and mt statement remains the same with regards to the O's
I actually quoted from page 1 ;)

Here's a quick Hudolin phone sign I knocked together for a render, in PDF format.  I'm not claiming it's perfect, but it might be of use to someone.

Deck,

Nice job on the Hudolin Sign.

DoctorWho8

That's pretty close, though it seems skinny in its overall width.  What font(s) did to use?

Something called Oxford; similar to Perpetua.

I was trying to work out how I hadn't seen this before.... Then I saw it was only posted today lol, cheers Deck, that'll come in handy

Hmm.. Did you squish it to get the O's narrower?

Rescaled it vertically, rather than squished it -- but yes, each line of text was rescaled to have similar proportions to each original line.

I'm currently drawing a door sign for printing on my Yardley Jones Mk II models (I think I've got that right, I'm still not 100% with all the different variants yet - the version from 1983 onwards).

I suddenly noticed the ampersand. It's not the usual "&".  It's one like a reversed 3 with a squiggle on the bottom loop.  In fact it's how I draw ampersand by hand.  So I dummied one up with a reverse 3.  At the scale I'm working it'll look fine.  Here it is:

We supposedly have a JPG of the TYJ MK I sign (at the top of this thread) but
it says attachment not found. I could knock one out for you in photoshop if you
like. Could solve some of your centering issues :)

Edit: I see you want a TYJ MK II sign anyway, but I can still help :)

Yeah I know my centering's off, but I was mainly concentrating on getting the font heights more or less right first. I generally centre things with a plastic ruler up against the screen (it works!).  However if your sign is better than mine I'll certainly use it. (yes, ampersand, I'm looking at you...)

Rassilons Rod

Photoshop will centre things automatically if you set it up right :)

Give me a few days :) what are the fonts btw?
