Next up, a fresh coat of blue paint and she's all done! Again, I didn't capture this on film, as you've al watched paint dry before;however the box now looks like this:

Well, that the work done for another two years!

It doesn't look like i've done a lot; however, there was a lot of rot to clear up. As soon as I thought I found all of it, I'd discover yet another patch! All in all this has taken about 7 weeks to carry out!

It looks as gorgeous as ever!

I suspect your box is the oldest extant outdoor box on the site and your restoration diligence is a testament to that.  I have many of the same problems and I just cobble together some makeshift patch, so mine is 3 years newer and in far worse shape.

I'm hoping the rot problems will start to become less and less of an issue. The amount of original wet wood is slowly being replaced...

Then it will be the ants.  I rebuilt the base on mine a couple years back and am currently in the process of rebuilding the base again because all the ants in the remaining rotted bits moved down and attacked the new base wood. :( Hopefully I'm wrong, but something to keep an eye out for.  Here in America we have baits called "Terro" that you put down for ants.  I need to pick some up for my TARDIS.

I don't want to speak too soon, but hopefully I've evicted the ants... ;)

Did you dress like a butterfly, and jump around, shouting "Zar-Bi!  Zarrr-BI!  Zarrr-Beheeheeheehee!"?
