You sure about that? :D

I'm amused that you went for a Met box replica, with the most apparent Dr. Who concession being the inward opening door, but now you've got the Hartnell post-fresnel lamp on it.

My box, as most will know, started out all blue.  Then it started whispering to me that it wanted a 1960s paintjob, which it had for a number of years.  A few years back it wanted to go back to all blue and it seems happy with that look for now.

I'm with the others - keep those lovely windows white!

You're doing a great job with the restoration, such a gorgeous build, one of my favourites too.
I'm really impressed with the way you are rebuilding the panels and chamfers, so worth it.

the repairs are looking good man,   Very nice, can't even tell there was damage with the undercoat on.

Actually it looks like this now..

I was hoping to get it jacked up in the air this weekend, but the weather is not looking too bright...

I'm quite pleased with the way the undercoat has gone on to be honest. It takes two coats, but it does seem to be water repellent

Lifting day...

The box looked like this when I started today

So I got to work

Now this was where the fun began...

IMG_4806 b.jpg

I packed out the slab with a number of 15mm spacers I cut out of acrylic. Sadly, I didn't get the chance to take pictures of this, because I was more worried about the stability of the box, and it's weight dragging over the engine hoist

Anyway, I dropped it back down...

IMG_4810 b.jpg

And it landed in exactly the same spot!

IMG_4811 b.jpg

And now we have a nice air gap underneath!

The amount of mud and foliage I had to clear off of the concrete pad while the box was in the air was incredible. Still hopefully this should help it dry out now.

You have no idea how happy it makes me that that appears to have worked perfectly and without any hiccups.  I'm almost crying with joy.

Thanks mate. I have to admit I was petrified the change weight distribution would cause the box to weaken its structure - but fortunately this wasn't the case.

It's vey muddy and damp under there, so I might remove the floor and give it a proper drying out...

"Actually, Tegan, that's one of your better landings!"

TG

Fivefingeredstyre, I am in awe of your restoration work.

Lifting a full size box - Amazing!

There should be some sort of Gallifreyan medal for going above and beyond in TARDIS/Police box restoration!

Volpone

The other thing is how it mimics an actual police box being restored (I mean apart from being able to pick it up and tilt it).  The "concrete" is primer grey while the wood door is still blue.  I know this is more a coincidence, but it amuse me muchly.

Pulled the floor out last weekend...

This gives you an idea just how wet it was underneath. There is a lot of rot on the floor structure. Its dried out a lot in the last week though. I'm going to give this a few weeks more drying out before I do any repairs to the floor though.

Here's a good view of the air gap, now I've mowed the lawn!

And this is how we were looking last weekend...

Things have moved on a little bit in the meantime. I'm starting on stripping the roof now
