I haven't said anything, but I have made a full size 1976-1989 roundel graphic that you can have circular labels made from a sign shop.  They could be put on circular perspex and back lit.  It's an idea.

Thanks Bill ,
that gave me an idea  ;)
I`ll see if it works

I made a start on panel 5 yesterday (Monday) fair bit of lining up and drilling to do ,I think this is what I`m going to call the boring panel a fair few switches dials and turn wheels to go on this.

Started again this morning just to get it finished off . I don`t think it looks that bad.

Lots of switches and buttons to press also the speaker works.
I`ll wire it up later.

Nice!

For a "filler panel" it's not bad.  The buttons are a bonus though.  Nearly limitless in their potential.
Maybe one set could function as control-alt-delete/command-option-escape.  Not useful for much but maybe worth a quick laugh.

Looking really good now, can't wait to see the column.

Ive got something a bit special planned for panel 6,but I`I've got to wait for some gear to be delivered ,I just hope it works or its back to the drawing board LoL.

After giving this a lot of consideration Ive decided to go for a Pertwee style central column , 1, it should be pretty easy to build,  2 it will save a fortune in specialist plastics, and 3, I think the green gel effect will look more in keeping with the style of console Ive constructed.
Any way here's hoping LoL

Pertwee style rotor would definitely suit this console.

Well I`m committed on this now ,I bought three 2 ft fluorescent fittings yesterday and made a start on putting them in a frame, I`m going to use my old favourite ,silk black spray paint on the fittings to change there domestic looking appearance and along with dark green lighting gel it should look quite good.

Well the central column is well on its way now ,I made some end caps then spray painted them the light fittings and everything else matt black ,I then bought a length of studding to clamp it all together and then i made a new round disc for it all to be mounted on,inside the the plastic column ,I particularly wanted it to give the appearance of the split light effect of the Pertwee column so a bit of black tape in the centre of the tubes easily achieved this, once the green gels arrive they should finish this off nicely ,to cover the nut and studding protruding from the top cap I have simply covered it with a spare console light, ping pong fitting, painted all silver, drilling out and sanding the end caps was a bit of a pain,I definitely need a router,a table saw and a pillar drill, but it is all coming together, pics to follow.

A quick mock up of the central column

I think that the green gels will need to be about 3 ply to take out the camera flare, still i will experiment with them, it looks ok in normal light .

Very nice! And don't worry about the column wobble. I've seen the real column in the show wobble a lot more than that at times!

Hi Dino,
I discovered why the column was wobbling, in my haste to put it all together one of the legs that the R/L lift was standing on had a cable trapped under it ,thus causing the whole thing to wobble .when the console is finally finished all the internal gubbins in the main body will be screwed into place.
I have cut out a first outer leg for the console to give it a more traditional look but I won`t be adding them until we move .
