Mark,

Thanks for posting these wow nice shots.

Curious, maybe I missed something, Why is it you were collecting the TYJ?  I guess if the head of props didnt know you were getting it I am confused as to how you were able to get the prop? Did you have a big truck? Where did you take it to? What did you do with it? Is it going back to the closet LOL?

Andrew Beech and I collected, with permission, The man was checking with the office to make sure I was legitimate, as I had arrived before Andrew B and  he was questioning me like mad.
It was taken in a lorry packed full of other artifacts to Olympia for The Doctor Who Experience exhibition - which is where I restored it to its former appearance circa 1980 as best I could in the short time frame.
I think It was all divulged on another thread, one of the ones about The  Doctor Who Experience.
Here's how it looked when I found it...

DoctorWho8

That looks a lot bigger when not on the roof.

I wish someone would suggest to the Doctor Who Confidential or 2entertain DVD people that a whole show dedicated to the history of the workshops, how designs emerged and so on would be of great interest to the fans.

Optical illusion, his hand is outstretched making the object appear larger in the photo in relation to the person holding it. Matter of fact if you could keep both objects at that distance the larger object, soddy prop builder, would fit inside the smaller object ;D ;D ;D

Hehe. You'd think that, wouldn't you? My brother has got one of the Anchor Lamps used on the show in his shed (he offered it to me for my build, but, I's already bought the New Haven version so I didn't feel the need for one - besides, I had designed my roof with the New Haven in mind), and they actually are much bigger in real life than anyone would expect. I think it dervies from people getting used to the classic box lenses, rather than the whole lamp housing - as the Anchor (and New Haven), are a one piece set, it looks much bulkier (that and everything on screen seems bigger in real life :) ).
But, as you say optical illusion does seem play it's part in the photo :).
Isn't it how ironic that we have to think of solutions out of the box, in order to build our boxes a lot of the time?

The "nipple" on the top looks like an elmers glue cap... You know the orange screwy thing... To my eye anyway. Cheers to a great thread

I take all that back there are no grooves in it.... Maybe a sharpie pen cap though

Galactic, thanks for jogging my memory on the St John ambulance logo plate.

So, out of interest, does anyone know if the TVC box has been moved back to the TVC yet?
Also, I thought I'd post this here rather than start a new thread or make a non-update on my build thread:
Does anyone know what door handles are used on the Smith box? It's becoming a bit of a matter of urgency for me now...

No problem, Kingpin. I aim to help wherever, however (and whenever) I can. (Time joke there.)

It's way bigger than that. Keep in mind that top is about 7.5" around itself.
