I am confused about the interior door. What exactly does it close up against? It's completely flush with the wall on the outside and open inwards. There's no door jam for it to close against.

See view below for interior door versus conventional door.

Any ideas? You can clearly hear see the interior door slam shut in some episodes. Not sure what it's slamming against though!

I wonder if there could be a small angle that we just aren't seeing by eye?

Interesting idea - thanks!

Couple of renderings of the C.Baker version of the interior door open (white roundels) with corridor visible behind (more white roundels). I'll do the Davison one next with the yellow roundels.

It's not the closest, clearest view, but here's a shot of the door hinges in Planet of Fire, that may help narrow down how it's been constructed:

The hinge pieces look similar to the ones on the doors leading out of the TARDIS.

Looking again at those pics I've realised that I made the interior door panel too wide now. I have reduced the width by 5cm and I think it looks much more accurate to the pics:

That bit behind the interior door that we annoyingly hardly ever see:

Hold up. That's not what the wall looks like. The walls are four and a half roundels tall.

*Edit : It looks like I am wrong. My apologies.

Quote from: warmcanofcoke on Apr 15, 2013, 12:39 amStarted Turning my attention to the interior Door. Found some interesting quirks.

Up until Planet of Fire the roundels on the interior door were that semi transparent fiberglass with the yellowish tint.
TardisDoor9_zpsc1320b8f.jpg
TardisDoor6_zps918827ac.jpg
but the production staff repainted the roundels black for the Master.
TardisDoor10_zpse3c43e23.jpg
After that the door was pulled off and the hinges were flipped around and the door opened the other way - and the roundels were painted grey.

Also in Planet of Fire we see the other side of the doors.

Note the wall around the door does not have the roundel pattern, also it looks like this side of the door is not framed by the pillars.
why doesn't the Guide mention them? - Oh, it's not very accurate.
Oh? - I'm researching the new edition.

Wonder why they flipped the door.🤔

Different handle on the Two Doctors version. Very odd.

My guess is that after taking it off to paint the door (and the rest of the console room) back to grey, they possibly found the wood of the frame was no-longer stable/solid enough to keep supporting the door in it's original configuration.

It's either that, or they swapped it over so that it would obscure more of the corridor leading from the console room, meaning there was less physical set they'd need to assemble.

I think seeing the roundel wall more clearly certainly gives more visual interest.
