Hello every one

My Name is Scott and at the end of May I was asked to build a Tardis / Police box for a friend
The Tardis was to be a long awaited addition to his collection of Doctor Who and other Si-Fi Memorabilia
Also this Tardis was to be displayed on his wedding day at the wedding venue ! and after this it is to be used as a garden shed.

So I hope to display the project on this forum for you to see and comment on.
I really hope you like this project as much as I enjoyed building it.

I am having trouble with the Picture, as I'm not sure on how to make them a good size for you to view ! ???
So any advise would be welcome :)

Thanks for the comments

Hope you like these bigger pictures

And yes I started to build the build on the 6Th of June and it was handed over to the client on the 3rd of July !
I am a carpenter and joiner by trade, and this project was done in the evenings and weekends.

WOW, thanks for the additional photos. That build is amazing! And the fact that you did it in less than 4 weeks on Nights and weekends is also amazing. I know this from building my box that I worked on for 2 years. I had a goal to have my box up by my Birthday and it was a month later than my goal just to get some of the small stuff complete. You definately have a wood working talent.

Curious, the corner posts on your build were they solid timber? And how did you attach your corner posts to the base?

Thanks for your kind comments.

I have seen your build and it was used as a reference when i was building this project, so I am privilege that you do like my build.

The corner posts are solid and have groves up the length of them to permanently house the two side panels,  there is a battern at the base of the side walls fixing  them to the base.

When we move the Tardis for the last time i will be drilling some metal studs into the ff our corners.
I hope this answears your question !

Thanks again

The sign font and the top of the lamp are a bit off, but all the same, great build.

Do you have any internal shots?
I see a piece coming down over your walls inside to hold them in place, was that a permanent piece or just something to hold it together while building the box?  And are your walls 1 section or 2 like the doors?

I'm curious to pick the brains of an actual carpenter who has build a box ;)

I am glad I was able to help. Funny when I started this 2 years ago I was but the learner now I am the Master.... Oh wait wrong show LOL.... Well I guess I could be the Master in a literal sense. You should be very proud of your effort. Again Stunning. Hope after it reaches the final destination you take some real good glamour shots.

Dude, who cares if the lamp and font is off? I dont think he boasted this as an exact copy but instead an attempt to help a friend with a dream using reference guides and other peoples efforts to create his own unique product.

I have yet to see anyone with 100% absolute perfect replication to every detail. And until you have gone through the sweat and effort of building one it is easy to sit back and point out flaws.

I agree with Paul, I would love to see some shots of the inside. Also if you dismantle to move it, take some photos of the parts. (if you would please :) )

mordrogyn

Oh hey wait a second... you have doors front and back I just noticed, unless you attached one of the walls with hinges also. nice

Impressive stuff, especially considering how long it took to build.

Kind regards,

Thanks you for all your comments I am glad some of you like this project !

Just to confirm that the font for the signs is based on research and details from this forum. Font = Gill Sans

And the lamp is a very close match bought from a internet site.

There are no detailed pics of the inside as I was on a tight schedule and it was not as good inside as I would have liked

I promise that when we do move it again then i will take pics of the inside and the parts.

Over and out for now!

Gill Sans is the correct font for the top signs, however your sign company didn't use that font. They used Futura instead. Tsk, tsk on them.
