Hey at least the Time Quake K-9 has better ears than the new K-9 from the recent K-9 series.

Trying to track down when K9's Red Eye slat broke off, and when K9 bottom red eye slat was sprayed silver.

Horns of the Nimon. (I suspect this episode was filmed before Nightmare of Eden. - Most of the shots don't look like the spray paint has been used yet. Or the paint wasn't as pronounced. I think the paint was applied halfway during filming of this episode)

The Production dates of these episodes does not support this theory.  ::)

Taking another look at the Horns of the Nimon pics I can just see some silver paint on the bottom Eye Slat - but for whatever reason it isn't as visually pronounced.

So the dog was sprayed before Nightmare and broken before Shada.

Hey at least the Time Quake K-9 has better ears than the new K-9 from the recent K-9 series.

I read about a year ago that there was a new Series of the Aussie 'K-9' in production, with the creators using feedback from fans to tweak K-9's design because a lot of the viewers did not like the design they were using. Word was that once they got the design sorted they were going to start the production of Series 2 of 'K-9 Adventures' (or depending on where you live, simply 'K-9').

Maybe this is like the Series 2 premier. I'll be curious to see how long it takes to get to the US. Series 1 aired on DisneyXD (which we weren't watching at the time), but on Christmas Day - and I forget which year - SyFy Channel ran the entire Series 1 in a day-long marathon. Needless to say I recorded everything on the DVR and watched it at our leisure. But now that DisneyXD has 'Star Wars Rebels' (and 'Star vs. the Forces of Evil'), we are watching, so we'll be on top of this one if it is Series 2 going into gear.

Just thought I'd jump in :D

K.9 MK IV, Aussie K.9 and Movie K.9 :D

K9-Doctor-Who-Brasil-Differences.jpg

What have they done to K.9?! Unlikely he'll appear in Doctor Who again as he is with Sarah Jane (who can't just turn up with actress being dead and all) so unless they write it off as the Doctor made a new unit this is the only K.9 we're getting from now on, I mean... It isn't K.9, and although I don't believe it was started in any Who but K.9 could Hover, SJA has a line where he says 'Activating Hover Mode' when he was getting out of Sarah's car (which must be cannon as the Doctor does say in a episode that I completely forget the name of where he goes to stay with Amy and Rory while waiting for them cubes to do something he says 'Is that all you can do? Float around? I had a robot dog that could do that").

Yeah, also the series script writing was weak, god knows what the film is going to be like...

ANNNND my rant is over :D

tbh, I do like the changes they've done to K.9 for time quake (over the one from the K.9 tv series)

Kingpin

The right-most design is a considerable improvement over the middle one.  It's not the classic K-9, but it's not one I'd be opposed to appearing in the main show if they went that route (I can imagine that could be what K-9 might've ended up looking like if he didn't debut in the 1970s, but in the 2010s).

Volpone

Off topic, but once upon a time, I decided to pick up a used Sony Aibo to do a totally non-canon K-9, Mk X.  Then I found out what a used Sony Aibo costs and decided if I really need a K-9, I'll make one that looks like the '70s prop.

The middle image is the design the Aussie series used because the BBC owns the rights to the K-9 image on the left. Not sure why they didn't or couldn't work something out so the Aussie series could use K-9 as he was, but maybe someone else has some insider info on that.

Well... a slightly cold way of putting it, but these are two different K-9s we're talking about (and I don't just mean Series; I mean two different robot dogs).

Actually, in the first episode of 'K-9 Adventures' (or just 'K-9'), he appeared as K-9 mark I and was fighting off some alien beasties. He ended up self-destructing as the only course of action left to destroy the aliens and save the people in the house. (He ended up in there, getting sucked in with the aliens through a time funnel-type of thing.) He then regenerated into the K-9 in the middle image. So yes; this middle K-9 did start out in the Classic 'Who' series. And every so often throughout the 'K-9' run, there were images of K-9 mk I as the scientist tried to help K-9 recover his memories.

Well, after seeing the Daleks being able to hover, first seen in the Classic "Remembrance of the Daleks", and again in the New "Dalek", when the Doctor build K-9 mk IV he thought it a good idea to incorporate a hover mode into the good old dog. :)

Well, the 'K-9' series was intended for a young children audience so the scripts were indeed corny, and campy. And unless we know just who is writing the "TimeQuake" film's script and who is directing, we have no idea what it will be like. One thing: it will most likely be intended mainly for children.

And I think just about everyone will agree on that one. After all, the Aussie producers did say they were tweaking K-9's design because even though they got loads of fan mail from people that loved the show, almost all of them said they didn't care much for what K-9 looked like. So... You Are Not Alone! ;)

Yeah, what confused me most about that series was the fact that right at the start it was a BBC prop (or remake), makes me think that maybe BBC don't completely own the rights to him, I mean, I know why he regenerated as the creator wanted him to look like that in the beginning... But BBC would've gone nuts if they owned K.9's look.

Also, yeah... Putting Liz's death the way I did was cold... But I don't understand why they couldn't write it into Sarah Jane Adventures somehow, would've made them able to complete a lot of things with it, and continue the series.

Well, I'd be happy to be corrected if I'm wrong, but the way I heard it, the BBC does own the rights to the original K-9 design, and that's why the Aussie production did such a redesign (in spite of keeping John Leeson as K-9's voice). As for the occasional appearance of the original K-9 prop - in the premier and in images - perhaps the BBC worked something out so small things like that were okay with them. I mean, just look at how 'The Big Bang Theory' uses the TARDIS and other blatant 'Doctor Who' references in their episodes. And don't forget that Halloween episode of the 2008 'Knight Rider', where the character Billy was decked out as Captain Jack Harkness...

Billy: "Aw, come on. Captain Jack Harkness. 'Torchwood', 'Doctor Who'? Nothing?"
Zoe: "Isn't Captain Jack gay?"
Billy: "He's not gay, he's bi. Or omnisexual, if you prefer."
(some dialogue later, enter Dr. Graiman)
Dr. Graiman: "Captain Jack Harkness. Time traveling bisexual. You trying to tell us something, Billy?"
Billy: "What?! No."

All 'Who'-related things mentioned by name, and "Billy's" costume was an exact replica of Jack's. So the BBC must work things like this out with other productions otherwise there would be lawsuits out the ying-yang!

According to Russell T. Davies, Series 5 of 'The Sarah Jane Adventures' was to be the final one, so my guess is that he did have some sort of finale planned. Sadly Lis Sladen passed while only having made half of the planned episodes. So we'll never know how the Series was to come to that finale. Series 6 was never planned, so even if Lis Sladen hadn't passed when she did, the show would have ended anyway.

Rumors abounded about something to be made with Katy Manning as Jo (Grant) Jones - sort of like 'The Jo Jones Chronicles' to take up where 'Sarah Jane Adventures' was to have left off - but this was only fan rumor that started when Manning guest starred in the 'Sarah Jane' episodes "Death of the Doctor". Nothing of anything with Jo ever came from the RTD or the BBC (though the thought of it was intriguing).
