Glen,

I dont know if you can call that a 1/4 scale. It looks more like a 1/16th scale?

But awesome builds. Maybe I missed but why building in bulk? Planning on selling one???? SHHHHHH... PM me for details... LOL

Wow just impressive detail.

Scott, there is a pic with all 4 TARDISes stacked up next to a full size TARDIS corner post.  You'll see that they end up being over the height of that.

I saw that photo, but does that necessarily make it a 1/4 size build? a 1/4 size build would mean you can take 4 of them and take the space of One? It looks like it would take 16 of those to fill the space of one full size TARDIS? Or am I wrong in my assessment?

You have to think cubed. A 1/4 build would be 1/4 the height, 1/4 the width, and 1/4 the length,.  For an 8ft X 4.5ft X 4.5ft TARDIS, a 1/4 model would be 2ft X 1.125ft X 1.125ft.

Yes, it's confusing isn't it?   Quarter scale means 1/16th the volume.  Same for the toys made by character Options, the little K9s and David Tennants all translate as scales like 1:5 or 1:12 but there's no way that 12 dolls equals one David Tennant, but measurement (height x with etc) they do.  But as the guys above just said, yes my boxes are 1/4 the height, width etc of a full size box.  When I put a full size post beside them I was glad to see it looked right (4 boxes = one post) give or take the little bit for base heights.

Cheers, Glen

FINISHED!!

The handles were easy enough (nails), locks were okay (sanded dowel), lamps came together alright (plastic bottles cut and sanded down with MDF tops, nail supports and (sanded down) salt dough bumps moulded in a soup ladle on top(!) ), but those post caps bugged me a lot.  Ended up making them in about 6 stages with odds and ends and hundreds of fiddly wee bits, then sanding the tops down and painting them up. Add dirtying wash to all brass bits and new pieces and voila!  DONE!!   No more TARDIS models for me for a good long time I think.   Well,  a while anyway.  Although my 1:4 consoles are looking a bit lonely on the part-done shelf in my garage...

Regards, Glen.

PS:  they look nice with a flourescent light inside (my fave is with the door slightly open and light spilling out invitingly), will try to snap a few pics this weekend to share.

Hi all, I had hankering to do a model red phone box (the K6 for those in the know) and made up the attached.  Weirdly there appear to be no plans on the 'net for red phone boxes so I've had to estimate from a couple of known dimensions (someone on here once posted the window measurements).  The glazing bars are not quite in scale due to the material I had to hand but I'm pretty pleased with the result - not bad for an afternoon's work anyway.

And what do you do after making a 1:4 phone box?  Pose it with your other 1:4 (Police) Phone box of course!   I'm starting to think gas lamp for my next project but I'm worried the house will start to look a little too toyland-ish!

VERY nice K6! Looks great with the police box. The curved roof must have been very difficult do.
