This time I decided to make a Sonic Screwdriver that will last a long time and looked better than duct tape.
this took about 12 hours to make from gathering parts to adding finishing touches over the course of 1 month. The black on the piece is nail polish.

1. This is the back part of the screwdriver. (Inside Shaft of Metal Pen + twist up mechanism of pen)

Looks great, and it works, which is more than I've managed with mine...

I'm going to buy a 2010 sonic and gut it, making a wood and brass console so a wood and brass screwdriver, with a green light, is quite lucky.

Nice design! And even better that it functions.  I've read some recent discussions about choosing which functionality to include; everything from various detectors (EM, etc.) to an actual screwdriver, like the one now on sale that looks like the new Matt Smith sonic.

Personally, I think I'd consider either my car alarm/remote starter or maybe my garage door opener.  Both are small enough in their actual remotes to allow for a good chance of migrating the electronics over.

Your laser pointer seems the most practical choice, though! Fantastic idea.

Nice sonic, and it's custom, you should be proud of yourself

Nice!  I love the idea of including a built-in laser pointer... could come in handy!
