Well don't I just feel like an ass ???

if we had been talking face to face, I would have gotten that one.  However, in print - it looked like you were wondering what the hell I was on about.  Sorry to hear that it hasn't helped much.
Hope the upgrade goes well.
The Dalek looks great, i'm not sure i would even attempt to build one.  After the old box is done, i may try a console...
But I'd never be able to build a dalek, I know nothing about working with fibreglass.

I've built daleks that are completely fibre-glass free - check my website if you're interested. I'm sure you could build one if you want to.... On the other hand, there are more daleks around than consoles, so I wouldn't want to distract you. ;)

Hi All
Wasn't happy with the eye it's self so had a rethink

I stripped the black off the sugar bowl (It's stainlees steel) and printed the iris.
Also found a lovely chrome tube to make the spacers. I know it looks a little wonky at the moment, but nothing is fixed, it's just slid over the stalk to see how it looks
Thanks

Thats looking beautiful :)

are you gonna go all metal anywhere else?
In the cities in the streets there's a tension you can feel,
The breaking strain is fast approaching, guns and riots.
Politicians gamble and lie to save their skins,
And the press get fed the scapegoats,
Public Enema Number One.

Hi All
Finished the neck bin and mechanisms today, and here it all is balanced on the shoulder section that Robert bought for me at Christmas

Marc, I'm not sure about metal for other parts as at the moment as funds are a bit tight and I'm using what materials I've got to hand. I would however like to use a metal strip for the lower band and also the upright slats if possible
Thanks for interest the everybody.

Great work on the Dalek progress so far there, Chris - soon you'll be able to open up your garden as a tourist attraction with all the unusual things you have in it!  I bet people who walk by at the end of your garden often have a good look in.

One very minor thing, but is the dome fixed in that position now?  I only ask as it looks a little too high up.  Usually it's on the same spacing as the neck rings and for the really early Daleks, the dome sat even lower at about 2.5" (or thereabouts) up from the top ring.

Still, you're on the way with a mighty fine looking beastie.  Now get on with that K9 too.   :D

There's no stopping this man  :D

A tourist attraction may not be a bad idea when he's finished LOL!

Hi All
Wow! thanks for all the comments  my friends.
A tourist attraction? Have you tasted my tea?
Ah Purple, 10 out of 10 for observation. You are 100% right, the dome does sit a little high. I've had that mechanism apart so often to cure the franking, that my head spins (Pun intended) The only way I can cure the problem now is to dismantle the neck bin entirely, and that will have to be another time I'm afraid. For the time being it will have to be Elsie's little foible. Not unlike the sign boxes on my tardis which are, ironically, slighly too shallow lol. Thanks for pointing it out .
Two things I wanted to say.
1, I'm running a build diary on the two Dalek building websites, and yet, it's here on TR2 that I receive all the feedback. I suppose they've seen it all before over there, and I'm not really adding anything new.
And 2, This Dalek building is, whilst rewarding, very, I say, very difficult lol Not a straight line or 90 degree angle in sight!!
Again many thanks to all
