Hi All
Well not my eye, more of an experiment really;

Eyepaint.jpg

It looks much bigger than it actually is. I'm using the dimensions from DBG and I am running a thread over there.
THIS....is going to be difficult
Many thanks

Hi all
Yep, it was a great weekend, for sure.
Here, as a bonus, is Dennis (Andy Dowling, (Horse62)'s Dalek), with the girls.

New Skirt for Elsie

Quote from: chriskingbees board=daleksanddoctorwhocostumes thread=80 post=877 time=1255332970Hi all
Yesterday I started building a new skirt section for Elsie.
This picture;

Off_we_go.jpg

taken by Jon Place (Nickon something or other on here), at Prescott, highlights the mistake I originally made, quite nicely (Thanks Jon ;D)
That back panel is just too vertical. When I first built the skirt in the time honoured fashion, somehow, the top section moved back, and I'd added all the skirt panels before realising, so I just plodded on. The hop farm '08 was looming, and I didn't have time to change it all round.
Also, the "Corners" protude a little at the front.....

BALLS-1.jpg

....under the gun boxes. I have already made a new template for the top of the skirt, and this eliminates both problems.
All this does mean one thing. The "Entry aperture" for gaining acces to Elsie, will be slighly smaller.
Lastly, those horrible bolts for locating the shoulders will be replaced by lovely rounded over dowels. I thought about this after Nicky (Scraphoid01) snagged her jeans at Prescott, and although it was a gentle laugh at the time, it could have been her leg, and I would have been mortified, had she been injured. Indeed, if the new skirt isn't ready before we all meet up again, I'm going to change them on the old one, too
Wish me luck
See you all soon

The progress so far, albeit one day

What a lovely day it's been, so I've been out in the garden bashing along;

That rear panel is right this time;

And that bubble is where it should it be lol

Very Nice Job! :)

Be watching this with interest Chris, I would LOVE to build a Dalek... I always imagined the skirt is the really tough part, so after seeing your build I'll decide if I think my limited skills are up to it! :D
My pilot's license? That's out back in the Cessna. Or perhaps you're referring to my license to kill. Revoked. Trouble at the Kazakhstan border.

I could give you the details but then I'd have to kill you, which I can't do because my license to kill has been revoked.

You have sharp eyes

- it took me ages to spot that! :)

Incidentally, if you're thinking of building a dalek, you should join one of the dalek forums mentioned in our Other Prop Forums section (though of course you're welcome to show your progress in the Other Prop Builds section as well).

"There's a Dalek in this picture, can you find it?" "No, but I see a Cyberman." lol

I've applied to join the Who Props board, but I guess my app is sitting in limbo. I would love to one day!

Project Dalek Forum and the Dalek Builders Guild are specifically for dalek building - WhoProps is mostly about other props - notably K.9!

I've sent a message to the WhoProps management, as they may be overlooking the account approvals - it's easily done.

Thank you!

Ah K9! One more on the wish list. You know, back in 1986 I think, when I bought the techncial manual, I wanted to make one of everything in it!

Hi all
Started on the panels yesterday

It just fits in here, minus the hems, to keep the thread on-topic.
Should be getting some more done this afternoon, but it's a bit rainy at present
Many thanks

Hi all
Thanks for the ongoing support :D

Now the obligatory stackshot, and yes, I'll say it before anyone does, Elsie is "Well stacked" ;D

That profile silhouette is looking much better;

PA170001.jpg

The front panels are the right shape too:

PA170002.jpg

The seams are not bolted, that's why there's gaps.

Lovely skirt, Chris! I still think you should make a movie base, so you could fit inside more easily.
