Dennis the Dalek

Hi my Name's Andy Dowling I have only recently joined my next project is a Tardis. I have built a NSD (New series Dalek) He is mainly used for charity work, I have named him Dennis and here he is:

Dennis took around 12 months to build, and is constantly being updated with small improvements as well as being repaired due to overeager hands trying to collect souvenirs.

He mainly is constructed from plywood and MDF, the chassis for the electric motors is constructed from steel box section, the motors, batteries etc all come from a 24v wheelchair.

The paint finish is all in two pack automotive "Ford Panther Black" with "Ford Moondust Silver"



He is fitted with a 200w car amp and speakers with a modified "Vader voice mod" he also produces several phrases through this system that come from a 12 inch remote control toy which I cannibalised for the circuit board. The exterminator lights up with a blue cold cathode and squirts water, the dome lights flash in time to voice, the head and eye stalk are radio controlled, the fender is fitted with ten cold cathode 12" tubes to give an even elevation effect.

That's a very nice looking NSD there, I watched the build progress over on the PDF.  An excellent and impressive piece of work there.

Lovely build, and you did what I always thought the production team for the series should have done - added in the blue lights under the fenders.

I agree with Barry on the blue lights under the fenders.  But I am not sure why nmobody has commented on the gun stick!!!  Great concept of having it light up like that.  Totally cool!!!!

Welcome to TR2 and thanks for showcasing Dennis. I had the honour of being exterminated by him at the Hop Farm in September along with Barney and the others. Being as I am now attempting a Dalek build, experience tells me the Tardis will easier (No curves!) but somewhat heavier of course.

The light up exterminator was not my idea, so I cannot take the praise for that one 

My Tardis has been given the go ahead to be at the Kent County Show on the Demelza Childrens Hospice stand in July along with Dennis and K9.
