I really hate, hate, hate this TARDIS!

All they did was take the previous versions and add those stupid horizontal flutes to the top and bottom of the corner posts and go back to the cropped old proper box inset "POLICE Public Call BOX" top signs. That I didn't mind terribly but the awful lantern on top? AND the worst is adding those cheap hardware store pull handles to the doors that are so awful instead of the more elegant repurposed window handles like other modern boxes had. And the fluted glass?

It's flat out ugly as can be and from season 2 picks of 15 we seem stuck with it. Every variation of the TARDIS I've ever seen here on the site is superior to that thing.

Not to mention having RTD back to turn the show back into PANTO.

Doctor Who died for me with the departure of Moffat. 11 & 12 were peak Doctor Who.

This is embarrassing now.

I dont understand why they put such differences in a prop that never had them in the first place. It seems they do it just to be different.
Sadly it is pantomime now. And a strange panto too.

Ooof:o

Opinions will naturally differ, but to me this is the best TARDIS prop we've seen made in the revived series (possibly because it feels so reminiscent of the Tom Yardley-Jones props).

I'd also hardly call last night's episode a "panto".

russellsuthern

I didn't mind it.
I thought the whole vibe was supposed to be "lighthearted romp.", a bit like the adipose episode.
Mind you, "The Horns of Nimon" was about as panto as you can get, & I loved that, too...so I guess I'm easy to please... ;D

And if we're splitting hairs, a number of episodes from 11 and 12's time were at risk of going "panto".

I'd be remiss if I did not mention that, in Olden Dayes, a moderator would pop in here to remind everyone this is a reference board for Dr. Who props so posters should stick to objective discussion of the props and not what they like or don't like about the props, actors, or production.

But we're human and there aren't that many people building TARDISes right now so, unless someone else says to knock it off, I'll leave it at that.  Just be aware and don't let it get into bickering.  And remember there are all kinds of different tastes.  I have a friend who loved Jody Whittaker and her run on the show, while a fair number of people were glad it was over.  I understand David Tennant is the most popular modern Doctor, but his last episode almost made me give up on Dr. Who.  Luckily I tuned in for Matt Smith's premiere and loved it.  And don't get me going on JNT's run, producing the classic series.  Seriously.  I'll have to warn myself.  ;)  But the point is, someone here might love the things you hate about Dr. Who (and vice versa).
"My dear Litefoot, I've got a lantern and a pair of waders, and possibly the most fearsome piece of hand artillery in all England. What could possibly go wrong?"
-The Doctor.

Agreed. Healthy debate is good, bickering not so.
If non-prop discussions are going to creep into threads, I guess now would be the time with all that's going on. It'll probably die down in a week or two...:)

Cheers,

Russ
