So, my order is in.

I sent this image to TPE indicating the position of door handles, the lock and the direction the phone hatch door opens, only to be told the image I sent was the Brachacki!

It's definitely a TY-J, right?!IMG_2942.jpeg

That definitely looks like a TYJ to me! Be interesting to know what the set up of this planet Earth is, as in how it's all sorted out and who builds what? Bought an earthshock helmet from them about 20 years ago, really love it. Hope you get your Tardis soon👍

From what I can make out, TPE has one guy that builds the wooden TARDISES, and another who does the fibreglass Whittaker box.

It appears that the fibreglass guy is inundated with other builds (Daleks, K9 etc) to start any Fibreglass builds.

I'm hoping for a mid August delivery, but in all likelihood it will be the beginning of September.

Roundel Tapestries arrived today. I'm glad I ordered two, there will more than enough to cover the three sides.

I've bought some battery operated led lights which will go around each window frame- a faint, warm white/yellowish glow which I think will give it a little touch of uniqueness in comparison to the onscreen box.

I'll attach the tapestries with Velcro to allow removal in the winter months and for easy access to the lights to change the batteries.IMG_1522.jpeg

The Brachacki (at least in its pristine 1963 form), the corner posts go all the way up to the 2nd roof step, the POLICE BOX sign doesn't extend all the way across the sign boxes, and the phone door is white with dark writing.  (And the window trim would be white.  It later has a dark phone panel with light lettering and blue windows, but by that point probably a good 6" is chopped off the roof height.  There are threads discussing this in much more depth and detail, but in a nutshell those are main things to look for.

Even though my TARDIS is going to be coated in fibreglass, I'm concerned about entropy!

I've been re-reading Jam Jar Lurker's thread to pick up tips for maintaining a TPE box. It's amazing what you miss on first read, he mentioned tips he had received from other TARDIS Builders about the importance of lifting a wooden base off the concrete, so I've ordered the 50 x 50 cm shed base tiles, similar to JJL's.

I'm baulking at the thought of having to cut a hole in my TARDIS for ventilation at some point in the future though- JJL did a great job on his, perhaps I could persuade him to pop down from Sunny Scotland to Norfolk at some point?! 😆

Any other top TARDIS tips from you guys I seriously need to consider?

My top tip is regular inspection.
It's so easy to just leave it in your garden & small issues build up over time to become massive problems.
So check & fix small problems regularly & you'll save a lot of time in the long run!

No idea how well TPE boxes lend themselves to modification and improved ventilation always comes at a risk of allowing a point for water intrusion.

That said, underneath the POLICE BOX signs is a good place to put vents.  You'll want a "drip edge" on the bottom of the sign, so the water won't...actually, forget that.  Water won't run uphill, so when it got to the vent it would drip off even if it ran around the corner of the bottom of the sign.

I've also tried having a vent through the signal lamp.  My lamp is hollow through to the inside.  Then I've got just a tiny gap between the "rain cap" on the lamp and the lamp glass.  Whether it works or not and whether it leaks or not are questionable.  But if you decide you need upper ventilation (you're getting ventilation from the bottom by raising the base as long as the floor has a drain or something), those are my preferred options.  Putting in openable windows like a real police box would be an option too, but probably more work and more likely to allow water in.

Been quiet of late, but suddenly it's all systems go!

It all appears to be on schedule, completion likely the end of August. 😊
