It all depends on the height of the printed layers. Mine are usually 0.04mm.

Bob!

really good work as usual, mate! are these casts from a resin print, or do you paint the busts after printing? if they are printed in that bronze colour, how do you get them to look like they've been cold cast???

I'm always amazed when I see your work!

Thanks, Steve.

They're just the actual prints. I can't be bothered moulding and then casting them and having to sort out seam lines. The resin used (apart from the blue crystal part), is the standard grey and the bronze look is just a cunning paint job ;o) They're also hollow, so are incredibly light, probably weigh less than a saucer.

A couple of quick pics of the latest print. Been a bit busy with work lately to get much 3D stuff done.

Fantastic print work! How many pieces did it pint in? I'm trying to see joint lines, but if there are any, they are invisible!

Just 2 pieces, the bust and the plinth. I try to keep the number of pieces down to a minimum, just makes life easier.

i am staggered at the detail and precision!

Thanks but I need to go back into zbrush and do some tweaking. Still not happy with it.

I might only suggest some smoothing of the forehead and chin. Maybe by sanding? To give that polished marble look.

Edit: I took a quick sculpture class and the sculptor said more than half the work is the polishing of the stone in many cases.

Thanks but I didn't want a polished marble look, I deliberately wanted a frost texture, due to her introduction in the Ribos story, and her ice maiden characterisation, hence the fine glitter. The print comes out perfectly smooth, incidentally.

The orginal, you might say.

Wow! Everything about this one is brilliant! The likeness, the character of Hartnell shining through, and the paint finish!  :o
A mixed-up non-conformist, trying to fit in.

Thank you. He's a particularly difficult likeness to capture.
