I know a lot of you don't do Facebook.....
So here's a post concerning a prop in Brighton...... Posted by Simon William Ackred...
It's for a film called "My Policeman" starring Harry Styles and is set in the 1950's.....
Apart from the weird Top signs and SJA plus the missing lamp this is one of the Best Metropolitan Police Box props that I've seen!
They've been filming in Brighton for about 2 weeks now.......

As prop boxes go, that's pretty good I think. Even the slight digressions with the signage give it a certain individualistic charm, reminiscent of the 'Regents Park' movie box. Only criticism is it looks a little too clean, smooth and fibreglassy.

They must have used these plans for reference

That has been there for at least 2 days now and I'm surprised it hasn't been vandalised or painted pink! 😂
Seriously though they have put a lot of effort and time into this one prop that may only appear for a few seconds......🤔
Somebody Suggested Maybe the plan is to have it as a rentable prop for future productions? Or the main person behind it is one of us and just wanted it built so they could take it home after the production was over? 😃

They're going to reboot "The Avengers" and they needed something to blow up. ;)

See now that design is exactly how I've always wanted the TARDIS to look like. (Signage aside...)

If this production team can get it right, why cant the Doctor Who's?

Oh that's great. Inaccuracies aside I do really like the signage. Of course with it apparently being set in Brighton the accuracy is sort of moot, but I guess Met-style boxes outside of the main area isn't unprecedented.

I am going to have to go back and look at actual police box photos now, though.  Because, while it is dangerous to generalize on them--even the "standardized" ones have disparities in how they are executed, I always thought there was a blue base that was part of the box that went all the way around and that sat on top of a concrete leveling foundation.  This one, the corner posts and the walls are just coming up straight out of the (black) leveling foundation.

Of course, there's now the very real possibility that this is probably going to add more fuel to the assumption that all police boxes were of the Trench type.

Only the nice ones were... ;)

I drove by yesterday on my way to work to see if I could get some snaps, but I couldn't see it so I guess they've taken it down.
Wonder what they're going to do with it?

Not always.

Anyone else bothered thats its wonky? Or just me :D

Possibly it only looks wonky because it's on an uneven surface? Looks to me like they've done very well disguising the fact they added a wedge shape underneath. Then again, maybe they moved it? I was just going to comment about it looking straight in the distance shot showing the (red) telephone boxes, when I noticed it also looks a lot closer to them, too. It might only be wonky when it's not in place for filming.
A mixed-up non-conformist, trying to fit in.

The impression I get from a quick online look up of the book is that the lead character (PC Burgess) has a tryst with his lover in a Police Box at one point during the plot.

It's not wonky, that's the "TARDIS lean". :P
