Tom Yardley Jones Interview

In the Doctor Who Magazine special on Production Design, it includes an un-published interview with Tom Yardley Jones conducted by Phil Newman in the mid-90's.

He shares a few details about making up his police box.

"The previous prop had been far heavier. It was ok in studio, but when you went filming, you needed about five people to erect it.

He went to Barnet Bypass to measure the only remaining police box around London. He redesigned it and had it made out of fibreglass. "The BBC workshops weren't geared up to do it, so I used the Elstree plaster workshops and they moulded it from my drawings".

"But it was purely because of staffing problems on location".
