Okay, this is my first post and my first build so don't expect brilliance.

I recently fitted out a cupboard in the kitchen and for part of it bought some 3mm thick plywood, some of which was left over when I was done. So, I thought to myself, what can I do with this? Much to my wife's bemusement I decided to build a model Tardis. Yes, she did think the lockdown was getting to me.

Now, I don't have a lot in the way of tools and I am restricted on space by living in a flat so going for something full size was not going to happen. Pretty much all I have to work with is a rechargeable Dremel, a junior hacksaw, a plastic ruler, a few small g-clamps and some Gorilla glue.

I looked up plans here and tried to scale them down to what I could manage, aiming for something a little over a foot tall. I started out by gluing together a few sheets of plywood to make the base and roof. For the base I used two pieces, for the roof I did two sizes and each was four sheets stuck together.

So, after first making 3 square blocks of wood I thought I'd carry on with building the Tardis and jumped waaaay ahead.

Using some thin strips that I chopped up with the hacksaw, and a panel of plywood I mocked up a Tardis side panel, decided it looked okay and glued it up. Had to do a lot of clamping, none of these plywood sheets were entirely flat!

Then I repeated the process three more times.

Alright, I admit it. I got carried away. But ... a a Tardis needs windows, right?

One attempt at a frame to insert into the space made from matchsticks did not end well. In fact, after much swearing at how fiddly it was, it ended in the bin.

But I have a Dremel, don't I? You can engrave things with them, right? So what if I don't have the engraving bits, I've got grinding bits and that's basically the same, isn't it?

Well, it could have gone worse, I guess. They aren't great but they will do until I think of something better.

Looks like you are off to a good start!

Next up I put together a small frame to go on the underside of the roof. The idea is for it to fit inside the walls so the roof can be removed.

To this I attached small battens of walnut and ash, bought as pen turning blanks before I realised I couldn't afford a lathe. These were to be the Police Box signs.

Next up came gluing the sides together on the base. Yes, I used whatever was lying around to keep it together while the glue set.

Last update for the moment. Time to glue it all together.

The 'light' on the top is the lid from a large bottle of hand sanitizer, including this it is 15 & 1/2 inches tall.

Next I need to convert the plastic cap into something more like the lamp and work out how to light it, then it is on to paint!
