These are lifted from IG account type40drwho (if you're on here, props to you). It's from the latest Doctor Who Magazine and shows both the S11 console and the 'tweaked' console for the upcoming S12 for comparison.

If this is unsuitable/bad quality/in violation of the Shadow Proclamation/doesn't have infinite rice pudding then feel free to exterminate.DC97FF94-6733-4CB2-A8DA-9E6919E662AD.jpegA19E34C3-E101-4806-9BEF-E4272C77F376.jpeg

Are those horizontal lights in the background stairs?

The bottoms of the crystals look better; the lights on the joints are good too.

They look like stairs to me but it could be something the crew are using not sure. It would be nice though if this season does explore the tardis abit more so you can see the halls an stuff though

To my eyes they look like stairs, with a possible doorway at the top. It also looks like they've moved the 'wall' of hexagons surrounding the dais outwards so the whole thing looks more... what's the word.. expansive? One of the niggles I've had with this design was that the console platform felt too separate from the porchway, and the surrounding interior - much of which previously seemed to be just blackness.
I do like the tweaks to the crystals, adds a bit of visual interest. Still agree with those that think they block the view too much, and can restrict camera-angles.
Overall, looking good.

Looks like the side of the platform with the Circular Script has changed too.

Looks like a staircase to me with hexagonal steps. I approve. Let's hope we explore outside the console room a little more.

Also there's a ramp leading up to the console. Perhaps a hint of who or what might invade the TARDIS!

I'm definitely liking the modifications, including the suggestion of spaces beyond the Console Room (which was an unfortunate design drawback shared with the Eccleston/Tennant Console Room.  I'm looking forward to grabbing some screen grabs of it, potentially even this Friday if the segment on Children in Need featurs anything. :)

Yes, as much as I loved the 2005 console room, it never had the sense of just how it connected to any other rooms.

You can also see that they added wheels in the joints of the crystals. While every self-respecting whovian must not like redesigned interiors (regardless of wether we like it or not), I truly dislike this interior. It's all gloomy (it almost resembles a villain's lair to me), and those crystals, besides blocking the view, they look to me as a giant spider reaching out its legs to grab you and suck you to the ground.
Oh my giddy aunt!!

There also seems to be another crystal directly above the time rotor. I wonder if it will move up and down as well. Overall, I'm very happy with the changes that have been made. This console room has been growing on me, especially since playing the Edge of Time virtual reality game.

Close up of the steps, FYI.

Looks like they've got rid of the crystal formations where those framework hexagons meet the floor too.

Can I remind people about the use of the spoiler function for anything from the upcoming season even if it has been printed in DWM.

If the thread is about S12 then go to additional options and tick spoiler if it's a comment on another thread use the tag with the no entry sign.

Another new photo featuring Steve O'Brien (writer for a variety of sci-fi mags including DWM):

I didn't notice the addition of the crystal hanging down from the ceiling before.
