The new Doctor!

I'm sure we've all seen the news by now, but I'm super excited about Ncuti Gatwa as the next Doctor. He seems like he's got the acting chops and charism to take on the role. And I'm also just excited for the new era in general! I get the feeling that it'll be more than just Russell T taking a walk down memory lane.
Can't wait to see what new form the TARDIS takes, of course. (I doubt the new Police Box prop will look like the Eccleston/Tennant version.)

How're you all feeling about this?

I trust RTD on the writing front, hoping it will skew a bit more towards Series 1 than the Tennant years. And as for his acting, I've only seen him in clips from the Netflix show Sex Education, but he's pretty funny in that!

Oh, and RTD said Jodie's final special is airing in October! (Which is more than Chibnall or anyone else at the Beeb has said haha)
 
I'd not heard of Ncuti Gatwa before, but then I'd not heard of Matt Smith, or Jodie Whittaker, and was only vaguely aware of David Tennant from Casanova. I made the mistake of pre-judging Peter Capaldi based on the little I knew of The Thick Of It, and he turned out to be one of my favourites, so the sensible thing to do is wait until his first episode.

I'm still going to be sad when Jodie goes, though.

The question is why such a low key announcement than any other "Nu Who"
Has the BBC lost faith in the series which shows in recent ratings or was somebody about to "leak" the announcement? 🤔

I really do hope they build some decent Tardis Props for the new series though (Internal and External) 😂
 
It seems to be the latter; the whole thing was very rushed to beat the press to the punch. That being said, I loved that first promotional image Ncuti released on Instagram. "Two hearts plus a blue box," brilliant!
It may've all been an accident, but I think this got more people talking about the show than they expected. (Especially in terms of people who had stopped watching Who years ago.)

My thoughts were also that maybe the cat was let out of the bag early, derailing the intended announcement.

Still, very much looking forward to seeing what Chuti is able to bring to Doctor Who, and seeing how his Doctor develops. :)

(And of course, excited to see what Chuti's TARDIS, costume and Sonic end up looking like) :).
 
I'm very sad to see Jodie go. I think she's been great, I'll miss her.

However, I must say I'm really excited about Ncuti Gatwa. An inspired bit of casting by RTD.
 
I reckon Ncuti will knock it out of the park
also by going retro and back to the 60s , cool styling will be back in, and I can flog all my old clothes !!
and my 1960s Motor will go up in value

I have seen a few negative comments in the press, about choosing him because of his skin colour !!, but they are just little englanders who blame every body else for their failings
I asked my daughters and Grandaughters about him
and the response was excellent
he is way cool
