The Kenneth Sharp Tardis Console

What is this strange noise I hear? A kind of grating, wheezing, groaning noise....... It's getting louder and nearer......

The mists of time are clearing. The vortex is dissipating and the Kenneth Sharp version of the Tardis Console is about to re-materialise.

The article is now complete and will be posted as a free downloadable e-book in the very near future.

The countdown to launch has now started. Tick-tock goes the clock.......

You little clock-tease :)

Well, I'm very glad you spelled that correctly!  ;)

Isnt it a Type 40 TTC?

GOTH: But this note? Why warn us in advance?
SPANDRELL: Perhaps to get us nervous, or just looking the wrong way. Prydonians are notoriously
GOTH interrupts: Devious? Not true, Castellan. We simply see a little further ahead than most. Anyway............. I should like to see this Tardis. Extraordinary to think an old Type Forty is still operational. :)

Hopefully she lands in the right timezone.
I am looking forward to these plans.
Might be able to finally build a CGI model for the Pertwee consoles.

Oh, she will materialise in the correct time and space!

Everything is ready and supporting material has been forwarded to Christian Cawley and Brian Terranova. So, barring an unexpected hiccup in the vortex, everything is set for this weekend.

The whole point of the article is to create screen-accurate plans for the Pertwee version of the console, to show how it was actually built and to identify the actual components which were used back in 1971 (many of which - somewhat surprisingly - are still commercially available today).

The reason for creating an e-book is three-fold:
1. It's free.
2. It's comprehensive and
3. All the information is in one place; hopefully the article is presented in a way which is both logical and which is also visually pleasing to the reader.

Karsten (Karsthotep here on TB) has put 'his money where my mouth is' and is building his console to my specifications so, I know the dimensions work in the real world. Similarly both Slava (DW1200) and Dan (d33jr093r5) have created some superb CGI/renders from my plans, so, I know that they work in the world of virtual reality as well.

As soon as the piece 'goes live' I'll post the link(s) here!  :)

Incredibly excited for this, my favorite iteration of the console unit.
Curious on the interior portion of the dimensions, given that the Brachacki portions were documented years ago but may be outdated (some things have shifted size-wise in general like the telepathic circuits). Since these may be different than originally thought, will these be restated or redone?

This is a very comprehensive ebook, so I think most if not all of your questions will be answered.  The telepathic circuits are addressed in this ebook as are all the components that were moved/re-used between the Brachacki and the Sharp consoles.  Having an advanced copy of the ebook I can tell you that the TC's were a re-used item and not recreated for the sharp console.    Regardless its not long now and we don't want to spoil the ebook for you.  This is much more comprehensive and detailed that what would have been published in the Annual had that not gone south.  Significantly longer.

It's the level of collaboration, co-operation and shared research (and making the results available to all) in projects like this, that make Tardis Builders such a great forum!

Not quite sure what you mean on this point....

As better information/better photos emerge, it's almost inevitable that some things will need to be corrected. I wrote http://tardisbuilders.com/index.php?topic=4825.0 over four years ago and since then Richard Bignell has sent me some thumpingly large HD photos of the Sharp Console which have revealed that I made three mistakes on the original Brachacki Console plans:
1. The square housings for the 'telepathic circuits/movement detectors' were fractionally bigger than I thought.
2. The 'secondary levers' were fractionally wider than I first thought.
3. The graphics for two of the main meters are slightly different to how they were originally drawn.

In addition, I now have access to a genuine Atom(ic) fruit basket - the dish-like array at the bottom of the Brachacki central column - and it turns out I was a eighth of an inch out on it's top rim diameter.

So, as far as I'm aware, these are the only things that need to be tweaked on the drawings for the original Brachacki Console which I will attend to as time permits.

Does that answer your point?
