The "Coral Extended" Tardis

Hello, my dear fellow Tardis-Enthusiasts. I'm glad I found this Forum and this great community of dedicated nerds to ramble about anything in time and Space!

So, I had a dream once where I roamed a strange Tardis, somehow familiar but in an unknown way. I've started to sketch out what I saw and ended up with a 3D Model. It developed a life on its own and I ended up just cobbling together a lot of stuff I thought would fit in from different incarnations of the Tardis, old and new, and here it is. I call it the “coral extended” Tardis. It kinda fits the theme of the first Ed Thomas Console, but a little more playful. Maybe even a bit cleaner.  ;)

Tell me what you think!DTTDS3.jpgTBTDS1.jpgTBTDS2.jpg

There's an extra step in our software, where you need to go to each of your attachments and "INSERT" it so it won't appear greyed out.  Since I wanted to see the pictures, I went ahead and did it for you.

I like it.  I'm picking up a bit of the 1996 movie TARDIS and also Tom Baker's alternate control room, along with the Capaldi era control room, while the buttresses are more like the Ecclestone/Tennant control room.  Neat.

I love it! I am a huge fan of adding in extra detail with the 'lived in' elements. I wish they had used something like this instead of the actual coral design they went with. The TARDIS was found in a junk yard.. not made in a junk yard.

I'll say it again. I LOVE this design.

Damn rob, that means a lot to me from someone that has been around for soooo long. I mean, i was 7 when you published your first design. So, thank you a lot! I'm still thinking about what to do with the lower level. Maybe some workshop-stuff? I'm currently procrastinating building wires and piping for the more steampunky-corners.  :D

I love the console a lot, always a fan of different colours and mixing TV designs with custom designs :) Some beauty shots of the 6 panels would be cool

Only thing I might consider is mismatching the chairs next to the console.  I'm assuming they're part of the ship and that's why they match, but it could be a neat nod to the older TARDISes if it was more like The Doctor just decided he needed a place to sit in the console area and dragged in some chairs he found; maybe an end table next to one.  But again, that is just a little tomato-tomahto nitpick.

One is a special deep cleaned chair for Wilf, one is for Rose (far enough from the console so she can't put her feet on it!) and one for annoyed Rory. Very deliberately chosen.

Jokes aside, I intended a corner like this on the Gallery, a bit like in Paul McGanns Tardis. Haven't shown it yet, because currently only 4 of the 6 panels are finished. :P  Especially the "Navigation" Panel is harder than I expected. It's build like the Doctor ripped everything out and rewired it in his own way.

Currently, my Job as a radiographer takes a looot of time. I'll post an update once things settle down a bit.

Fabulous design that you've got here. Multi-level platforms, warm lighting, and a good relatively comfortable-looking blend of elements from the Tenth, Eleventh, and other Classic TARDIS interiors.

About ten years ago (!) I started working on a console room concept that combined my favourite elements of the Coral, Copper, and Toyota interiors into one console room. I didn't get very far beyond a few preliminary 2D sketches but in my mind's eye it was rather similar to this! Excellent work, you really did capture that "advanced but old, alien but inviting, large but cosy" thing so well. That console's a work of art.
