TG's Wheel Cyberman

I haven't been very successful with my recent attempts at real-world builds (apart from the TARDIS) but I'm hopeful I'll manage to make this as I have a lovely fibreglass Cyberman head (which I’ve had for some years) and I’m getting the chest unit from an expert prop builder.

As I'm a little short for a Cyberman, I've found an old (6'3") mannequin and also found a secondhand 'beaver tail' wetsuit in the right sort of design but unfortunately not the smooth skin rubber texture - and not silver - yet.

I'm starting with the rigging for the arms and legs and just making a best guess on the materials needed for this. I'm planning to make the rigging in aluminium, using aluminium rectangular box section, aluminium tube and depleted Co2 bulbs.

and with the tube

First attempt at the joint box, I failed at glueing the capsule to the box so ended up drilling it and bolting it on.
The black heat-shrink looks too dark
Not sure why I thought aluminium would be easy to work with  ::) .

Thankyou! I really like the Wheel cyber design. Shame they were only used once in the show. I had an Earthshock helmet once but sold it when I got married. Regretted it ever since. (Selling the helmet not getting married that is!😄)
Love what your doing so far

Starting out with the silver spray paint - seriously blotchy result -  I've ordered more cans.

The boots look good in silver - I know they are too tall but the straps from the rigging will make them look shorter - I hope.

Working on ideas for the gloves.

That looks awesome! Get some moody light on him!!  ;D
Definitely will do (when I've finish him). I think he's getting ready for his close-up, in the Gallery!

I wonder if the perspex handles where ever meant to light up?

Yes, that would look amazing! so cool - or possibly rather hot for the actor with those old filament bulbs.

Have to tee up some "Left Bank Two",  as we take a look at your work.... in the gallery... 😁

How about thimbles for the finger ends?

Metal thimbles would be nice but I think they might be too small as they only have three wide fingers. I was planning to use 30ml medicine cups, sprayed silver but I'll have to see how they look.

Thank you :)

Also some Whiskey Jiggers for pouring measured shots of spirits might be an alternative and be a bit more durable as some are made of metal

Off topic, it's like the costumers hated the actors:  "Let's put them in a claustrophobic suit they can't see, hear, or breathe in and then put shot glasses over their fingers so they can't touch or pick up anything."  Kudos to all you guys who take the time to actually notice things like this--and then go ahead with building as accurately as possible instead of deciding to simplify and make the costume more practical.

The original finger caps on the Wheel Cybermen were vintage rubber tea towel holders. you stuck them on a door or wall and there is a cross cut  shape in the smaller end that you pushed the end of your tea towel into.

In fact I've just had a look and you can still buy them.  Look for rubber push in towel cloth holders.
