The last of roughly five boxes in Southampton. Redbridge road and Green Park Road. 1960s Probably built due to the near by substation closure.

The first was built at Warren Avenue near the corner of warren crescent, Shirley Warren in 1939.

Other were:

Within the grounds of Queen's Park, a very large box.

Corner of Highfield Avenue and Furzedown Road.

Golf Course Road corner of Bassett Avenue

Likely all these boxes where brick.

My grand parents lived in Bassett Avenue and one of their shoe shops was in Shirley.

Don’t suppose you can look through their photo albums?

I have a feeling the Highfield Avenue and Bassett Avenue boxes will be very similar to the Farlington box you posted photos of. They look to be a similar shape.

Mine lived on Wimpson Lane, but towards the top end (Not far from where the Ordnance Survey head office used to be). It's all totally different now, the roundabout has been replaced with a flyover and I'm pretty sure the Swan has long gone, replaced by a mini retail park complete with KFC.
