Rubbertoe Tenth Doctor Sonic

I went for one of these and never looked back.

But even I am interested in a 13th Doc Sonic. Just not in the budget at the moment.

It’s times like this that make me think about playing the lottery.  Would love one, but there’s no way I can justify the price while there are mundane things like food and mortgage to consider.

I’d have been happy enough with a Wand Company one, but didn’t see them at the time and they’re silly money now on eBay, on the rare occasions you spot one there.  (Not quite as silly money as this, granted, but second hand and unknown history of wear and tear.)

All I need is a time machine and to borrow a pound off someone’s dad...

I've been on the hunt for a Wand Company 10th sonic second-hand but they're getting rarer out there.

Rubbertoe Replicas do 3- and 6-month payment plans for each sonic.

I splashed out on a Wand Company 10th Doctor sonic when they came out. I really like it, but the battery isn't holding a charge these days  :(

Yeah, You reminded me to charge up my Wand company 10th Doctor Screwdriver today (I refuse to call them "Sonic"...)

Does anyone actually use theirs as a remote control?

I have both the 10th Doctor and 2 two 11th Doctor screwdrivers from the Wand company (I have the first edition and the second version with retractable claws as well). I have to say the 10th always feels a bit fragile, but the 11th version I absolutely adore. Its robust and solid it really is a good investment.

I know the button is all wrong, but thats about the only fault I would have with it. Also, its bloody good at turning TV's off in pubs when no ones looking (laughs evilly)...

The Rubbertoe ones are perfection if you can afford to invest that much money - I have the 4th Doctor's screwdriver from Nick, which I also cherish; however the Wand company versions are a very close second...

When you say this, do you mean that it runs out overly fast or do you mean that you can't get it to charge in the first place?

If I remember correctly, there was an issue with the first batch, so small that most never notice it, but if the battery runs down too much you can't recharge it as normal. One fix is to plug it in and leave it for 24-48 hours and hope the sonic 'wakes up', and if that doesn't work the recommendation is to find a way to charge it with a very slightly higher voltage at first to 'kick start' it. I know a few, including our own Galacticprobe, have had this issue and it's normally fixable.

Even if this doesn't apply to you, I hope it's of use to others reading this :)

It runs out really fast, but reading your suggestion I'm going to try plugging it into the fast charger I have for my Kindle.

Agreed, the Wand Company version doesn't hold it's charge too well but does recharge quickly enough. IMG_1008.jpg Not sure about its fragility.
Because its comparatively light its more portable than the Rubbertoe fourth doctor sonic. It's a beauty but relatively bulky for easy travel in a pocket - which is why it sits here..IMG_1009.jpg

The Rubbertoe 10th Doctor screwdrivers are sold out now on what seems to be the final run.

I did end up getting one (in amongst house move etc it seemed less eye-watering when the removals firm cost more…) and am mostly happy - though at the price I’d rather be “unreasonably happy” than “mostly”.
