I recently rediscovered my replica of River's blaster. I found the original Nerf gun for the handle plus another for that bit under the barrel and built the entire top half from scratch.
Unfortunately it was damaged after being shoved in a drawer and the white paint was really discoloured so I decided to give it a face-lift. I made this prop a long time ago, I could probably do a better job now but I haven't got it in me to break the thing up and start again.
I decided to go back to the original prop as it appeared in Gridlock, before it was modified for use by Dr. Song. The darker colours mean it shouldn't discolour with time. I also gave thought to the type of weapon I might carry in my fanfic as Cardinal Hordriss and wanted something more unique than a simple copy of River's.
I'm afraid the pic isn't great. It's always hard to photograph weathering and it's dark out so hard to light properly. I've only finished one side because I ran out of matt lacquer but the other side will look the same.
