Police Public Call (Trading) Post

Spent a happy hour or so perusing the online catalogue of prop hire company Trading Post.

Mostly, I was on the look-out for any surviving props featured in classic Doctor Who, of which Trading Post provided many, as well as to lots of other cult TV shows and films. Not much joy there, but I did turn up this. Apologies for the poor resolution. Looks genuine enough, despite the replacement top sign:

Looks genuine enough, despite the replacement top sign: 

It has the correct rectangular shape, and doors in roughly the right place. However, every other detail is completely wrong. I could list them all but it would take far too long. the biggest errors are the missing side panels, the incorrect M Crown P on the top, and the top dome that is narrower than the main body when it should extend over by about 1/4 inch.

Actually, I’ve just realised I’m a useless amateur. I could list all the reasons why but it would take far too long, contributing to this site having become so yawnsome. Time to go. ‘Bye all.
