These look great and will be helpful for many people so, thank you for making these. 🙂

Have you considered making the lantern elevations/plans as well? The lantern is what I find modelling these TARDIS exteriors the hardest even when modelling alongside reference images...

Thank you.

My original intention was to deliver police box plans only, as it's something you have to actually build yourself. Handles, locks, lamps and other furniture, however, can be purchased elsewhere, that's why I did not include any of those. But I'll think about it.

I always model all the furniture purely from multiple reference pictures - it's the best source of information. I never rely on drawings unless they were made with a real prototype in hand. Unfortunately, I don't have any of those pieces in my hands to measure them, so I use pictures of those props straight on, it gives much more accurate results than line drawings. Here are some examples:

Well, quite. Well, not quite. Most measurements were already known from the official BBC plans:

2971667111_1a76a2ffe7_o.jpg

But, of course, they were not 100% accurate to the actual props. I made a few corrections by just observing and studying pictures of the props (this method was inspired by Tony Farrell's studies of the classic series props). There were a few inconsistencies, such as extra height above the top signs, wide base and walls being set too deep, but overall the dimensions were correct (not including the obvious difference between the front and side panels). Then I made a 3D model with all my corrections taken into account, put a wireframe overlay of it on top of multple pictures of the props with matching focal length, and made a few more corrections, completing the study.

Now, Mark III (Smith's TARDIS from Seasons 5-6) is a heavy modification of Mark I, but their heights are exactly the same as far as I'm aware (from the bottom of the corner posts to the top of the roof, excluding the base). So the way I made Mark III was basically taking Mark I's established measurements, studying pictures again, making corrections, modifying a 3D model of Mark I to make it wider, but keeping the same height, and then again overlaying wireframes of it on top of the pictures, making more corrections and finalizing the result.

How do the 3D models look? if you have any examples of the wire frame overlay?

Plans have been updated with new information and corrections. Base has been reduced in height by 5 mm, now being 100 mm high (overall height of the box is now 2780 mm). Lamp base has been increased in width by 5 mm, now being 165 mm wide. L-shaped corner post details have been measured properly and corrected here. Calculation mistakes have been corrected (thanks to Nicole for pointing them out). JPEGs have been optimized for better web performace, and a printable PDF (A2, scale 1:10) has been attached as well.
