I'm stating out with a 7" cardboard tube to get my size straight. I'm thinking PVC pipe, especially a 7" pipe will be too heavy for this prop, & expensive to get, in my lack of funds. I'm thinking, foam sheet & cardboard for this prop. Now back to the cardboard prototype.
I'm using my bowls to make out the first mark, then add on to that with guesst-amating the size of the prop. Cardboard poster board for the tube for a start. my second should have a foam inside, this ones hollow.

I'm making a couple cardboard bowls so I can make two virus containers & compare sizes with screenshots. Kind 'a looks like a bad mitten birdie.

Cardboard bottoms for the masking taped bowl birdie to stick to the tube. This gave me an idea to cut a hole & just slide on the metal ones when I get to it.

I know what your thinking, the camera cut off my feet. Their just hiding under my vest. Comparison shots to compare with the screenshots. I haven't got the fins made yet. It may change the look of these pic's later. The actual prop looks bigger in person & looks smaller on camera.

Measuring out the fin & using the bowl to mark off the rounded edge.

Three blades of cardboard to make one half of the fin. One is shorter than the other two, so I can lock in a spacer between the two haves to make it longer or shorter if I have to. All the fins are taped down encase I need it shorter. I can just tare the tape off than rip off a glued part. Ones I'm sure its correct, then I’ll glue it.

I forgot to mark off the 7 points where the fins will be placed. 50 degrees for each fin.

Presumably one pair of the fin is 60 degrees apart?

6x50= 300, which leaves 60 degrees left over. :)

I did calculate 360 by 7 & came out 51.42857142857143", but I couldn't find that fine a detail on the measuring dial I had. It's close enough anyway. :)

looking verrry good there, great job, don't forget the little hatch.

Thanks for reminding me, I won't forget. :) There will be smoke, but no fire, I hope.
