Lea Bridge Library Box

Found a new pic of this Box from a bit down Lea Bridge Road, circa mid-1950s (before April 1959 as that is when the 555 Trolleybus Route was discontinued) --

A blowup --

From what I can tell from the OS maps, it looks like the Resiting mentioned in the Met List was only a few feet to the east-northeast. Per the 1930s maps the Box was originally essentially bisected by the corner of the Library building, with the 1950s and later maps showing it instead situated so the Box's back wall was in line with the edge of the building as shown in the first photo of this thread. That's about a 2 foot difference in location if they accurately depicted its earlier position.

Note that I have taken the liberty of renaming this Box's Topic the Lea Bridge Library Box since it was sited just outside that building.

I must have missed this thread the first time around.  That first photo has to be the most perfect beauty shot of pre-1950s box I've ever seen.  The only way it might be better is if it were in color.

It’s with grim inevitability that I post this safe in the knowledge it will have been posted here ten years earlier and I simply cannot find it with the search function. But just in case it wasn’t and because it’s a nice pic.

That is a great pic of a beautiful box.  Early paintjob, all the proper panes, in good state of maintenance, and a very nicely proportioned roof stack and a nice base--not too high, but not right level with the pavement.

'Fraid So Mikey!  ;D
Not your fault though as this section is in such an "Un-Indexed" mess...
I keep sending "new" photos to dr hue to identify only to find they are already on here!  :-\
Anyway the original topic from way back in 2012 is here...

We used to have an alphabetical index but unfortunately the database function doesn't seem to work with this web hosting service  :(

( would love to see it be made to work again - I'd help if I knew what the problem was )
