This Tardis is a custom classic build scaled down to fit under a nine foot ceiling. It was also built to be portable - the walls bolt into hidden nuts on the inside of the posts, with the top sections just stacking and locking into place on the posts like a wooden puzzle. It's an all-wood build that has been through a couple of renovations. Construction of the Tardis has held up very well from being disassembled and assembled and used at various events. Cosmetically it hasn't held up as well as hoped, and has needed the occasional repaint and window repairs.

The top roof portion was made to be as light and strong as possible. It has compound miter joints on the roof frame, which also helps with having more head room on the inside (since its a little shorter than a Tardis should be).

One of the main features that I tried to capture of a Tardis was a "well traveled look". A spray on texture was used over the whole box. Then that was gone over with black and brown enamel paints diluted down with mineral spirits and spray bottles. The first coat was brown over the whole Tardis and the black was focused on the lower portions.

The sign boxes are notched out to slide onto the posts with the roof sections fitting inside the posts and resting on the lintel sign boxes. This also squares up the top and adds a lot of stability.

Originally the pebble glass windows were casts that were made using casting resin with an amber translucent coloring agent. These turned out to be quite fragile and many were broken during travels. These have since been replaced with real amber pebbled glass that was purchased from an antique shop.

The pull to open signs were made from 1/8th hardboard, painted, then screen printed. Two versions were made: a white and also a dark blue one, and both were given a dirty wash.
