Something I posted on my Facebook Met Box page a couple of weeks ago........

Up to 1968 when the then labour government decided to remove funding and dispose of them..
We had Civil Defence Ranges all across the country..
where members of the Civil Defence under the guidance of the Range Supervisor  built a bomb blasted village, in order that members may train under realistic conditions.
This one at Albert Road, South Norwood photographed on 19th June 1966 shows a real Police Box which obviously was "surplus to requirements" and removed from somewhere in the local area around 1965/6......

Now I know where Dennis Spooner must of got the idea for the 1976 New Avengers Episode " Target" 😉
