CannertheNaner's Assortment of (Hopefully) Photo Realistic TARDIS Exteriors from All Eras

It looks to me that the CGI box was originally made almost directly after this set of plans:

Notice how it also has a wide base, walls being set too deep, and it is also missing a wooden plank just above the "Police Box" signs. The only difference I see is how the roof is slightly shortened. If we follow the plans, the molding details (square pieces just above the corner posts) are 85mm tall, while on CGI model they look a bit more like 75mm tall, but they also actually go all the way down through the corner posts and touch the "Police Box" signs, which is a unique take on this design.

Now what I have finished with the modern era, real life boxes, what should I tackle next? (Please give actual responses instead of "I'm fine with what ever you chose" or something along those lines)

URGENT HELP NEEDED! I have made the model of the Hudolin Box (per davidnagel's request), and I am struggling to find a good image to texture it with, if anyone has anything I could you that would be splendid. To note, I have searched tardisref.info and Google for and image to texture with and haven't found anything.

Anyway, to hopefully encourage all of you, here is a little teaser:

head to the reference section and find the Hudolin thread, loooooads of nice big pictures of the texture. but you may need to do a little custom tiling of it

This isn't the answer you want to hear but, I'm going to mention it. I think this would probably be a good time to learn material nodes & how they work. Sometimes, you can't rely solely on image references of police boxes as your textures. As a lot of the time, these images can be in different environments & scenes, with different lighting. Therefore, can make the texturing on your 3d model look a bit off and/or flat.

I'm not a Hudolin box expert but, from what I've seen, some of the images of the box can be deceptive. Especially in darker/dim environments. However, you CAN use said reference images as a guide to make materials of your own & I think it can help bring more control, variety and creativity within your textures. Don't worry about not being able to afford Substance Painter, or a Blender add-on that works similar to Substance Painter. Just learn how material nodes work and start from there, here's a couple of tutorials to get you going:
All the best.

Yeah, I have used nodes a lot before I learn about image texturing, and I did make a procedural texture for the Hudolin Box I was happy with, I just haven't been able to share it because

A. I'm on vacation

B. I don't have a scene in which to render it in

Once I get back, all I need is a scene to render it in and I can get it to you guys. In the meantime, if I could get scene recommendations, that would be great!

Firstly, I wasn't aware that you were on vacation. You didn't make that clear in your post at all so, how was I supposed to know? Secondly, you can use an HDRI to get a better idea on how your texturing works when lit.

This is the one I use, this was sent to me by @Mike Verta https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/6uc9....hdr?rlkey=jh1mhsks3bpsokqkdw0wzcpim&e=1&dl=0

Just going to jump in for a second and mention how difficult text conversation can be sometimes. I can't count the number of e-mails and texts where I meant one thing and the recipient got something totally different out of it and, on rereading what I typed, I could see how they did. I can't think of anyone here who posts that isn't trying to be helpful. It's just that our different personalities can sometimes not mesh. :)

Okay, I'll admit...I had a bit of a bad day yesterday. My bad.

Update:

Due to unforeseen circumstances, my computer has stopped working and I have lost all progress I had made. I have gotten a new computer and I have decided to start not from A/B, but from the Brachaki box instead and work my way up.

With a bit of luck the drive of your original laptop/ pc should still be readable (even if the boot sectors are nuked).

It's possible that all is not lost 😊

Who knows with modern drives? But yeah, my old main drive on my Windows 2000 desktop did many years service as a backup drive and when the box finally had power supply issues, I got an external drive housing and was able to access the data from whichever drive was loaded in it on my XP laptop.

Eventually they stopped working in the external drive and of course the XP laptop is long gone so just for laughs I plugged both drives into the old chassis around 2017 and whatever the problem with the power supply was had apparently cured itself, but it would get 3/4 of the way through boot before failing (on one of the drives). I should probably try putting a clean install of Windows 2000 on it--although losing the data makes getting the drive working makes it a kind of pointless exercise. And I think I'd have to scrounge a 3.5" floppy drive to do the install because W2K expects there to be one for the boot sequence.
