Books Time Lords have read.

Primarily it is my hope that with this thread we can (if we choose) track down books that were used in the show to use as props or recreate books from the show to use as props. I myself am interested in both editions of The Time Machine, The War of the Worlds, ... in fact most of the books that can be identified in the show. (not so much all three volumes of Principia Mathematica by Alfred North Whitehead & Bertrand Russell - as they cost a fortune on bookfinder.com - however if I were to come across them at a yard sale and the price were right ....) I'm interested in making a copy of Origins of the Universe by Oolon Colluphid, The Worshipful and Ancient Law of Gallifrey, etc.
I know that not all of the people who enjoy this thread will want a copy of the Caretaker Rule Book, likewise I'm sure there are a few 2nd Doctor 500 year diaries out there in the collections of the group, I have listed the books mentioned or described from Shada, and while I have for the sake of completeness added images from Castrovalva and Tooth and Claw - I don't wish to be pedantic.
However if someone were able to identify a clearly recognizable book from an episode or by some gift of eclectic knowledge be able to identify a book in one of those aforementioned libraries, I think it would be appreciated.  I am curious to know what book the Doctor was reading in The Reign of Terror, but not to the exclusion of all else....

Very true warmcanofcoke, my memories of Castrovalva had me hoping at least one book was recognisable for this very reason.

Speaking of which, there was that K9 Manual that the Fourth Doctor reads at some point (Leela episodes?) and it appears in a richardwho.com collection somewhere.

I will be reading articles to examine the format and I would like to keep this Thread active because I'm sure there are a few more books the Doctor has perused in his time.

I'm assuming this article will be in the form of a list with contributors (Members who pointed out what episode the book was in.)
with shortcuts to the reference images of the books in question. etc.

I will do some research...

Whatever you think appropriate, but that sounds good to me.

An article is really just a topic on which only the original poster can post, and with less clutter - posts are presented one per page and are usually longer than regular topic posts. You can edit pages (posts) in it or add pages over time just as you do with posts on an ordinary topic. We sometimes open a separate discussion topic for an article (or occasionally co-opt an existing topic for that purpose if appropriate - I'm not sure which if either we'd want to do in this case).

I'm hoping that over time members will write more articles summarizing some of the amazing contributions people make here, and new stuff if it seems best to share it this way.

We haven't really established any policy yet regarding acknowledging sources, but pointers to existing topics seems sensible.

I saw that, too! Goodness knows what book is really under that dust jacket as judging from the little police box shape inside the small circle this is obviously a custom-made book cover (and one that should be fairly easy to replicate). It would be nice to know what book they did put the jacket on, but I think it would be relatively easy to find a book on Quantum Mechanics at a Barnes & Nobel-type bookstore and then slip that replicated dust jacket on it!

I wish we could get a better look at that yellow label on the spine. (I'm guessing by the lettering and its spacing, it also says "Advanced Quantum Mechanics", just like it does on the front and back because it also has that police box shape in a circle at the top of the spine.)

Time to get at the graphics apps again, and find some (roughly) 11 x 17-inch paper!
