Found on eBay.

I like the design and wanted one for my room. The deep base gives me a few options for lighting, candle,oil, electric but it is deeper than the one on the new box. In fact I think this one would have looked better on the new box than the one they've used if the base was reduced.

Nice find! The thick glass of the fresnel looks great!
I gotta say, this forum has given me an appreciation (and interest) for these types of lamps. Be they the tall, thin, or the squat variety, oil-lit with a chimney/vent, or flat-ish topped and electric... they all have a charm and I'll probably like the new version (when we see a better image of it)

I haven't got anything to precisely measure it other than a ruler but...

30 cm tall with the handle up.
The base has a diameter of about 11.4 cm
The visible lens is 6.6 cm tall but obviously there's the unseen bits that slot into the metal top and bottom.

That's as much as I can measure with any degree of accuracy.

Angelus Lupus - it was the reference thread for the new TARDIS where I first saw them and decided I wanted one. I think they look good but the one on the new box is a more peculiar shape than this one. In fact, take the chimney bit off and reduce the size of the base and this one would have probably vexed less people than the one on the new box appears to have done.

They shape looks right, just the 4 rods look a little off.

Close but above the lens isn't quite the same shape, the rods look thicker on the prop and seem to terminate in clover shapes. The lens looks just right though.

I agree on the lens, and the rods (or struts). The Series 5 lamp had the struts ending in a sideways oval pattern far more pronounced than the cloverleaf on the Series 11 lamp struts. (The Series 5 lamp's struts looked more like drawer pulls.) And on the Series 5 lamp base you can see the "base flange" that protrudes slightly from the sides of the box it sits on...

...as seen in this image of the lamp on the box's top plate. So the actual base on this lamp didn't go as deep as the one on the lamp CH found.

And on that note, CH, that's a beautiful lamp you've managed to find! It's one I wouldn't mind have hanging in my front room (used as a Jeremy Brett 'Sherlock Holmesian' sitting room/library) to throw some light... though I would keep mine as an oil lamp if I found one; I just love oil lamps. Absolutely Fabulous find!

And now that we've sorted out the Series 5 lamp, I think it's time to adjust those Drift Compensators and get this topic back on track. As the title says, this is the Arwell Jones TARDIS - Lamp Sources. We're trying to get a positive ID on the new TARDIS lamp, and locate a source to buy one (or a close facsimile thereof).
