Ambassadors Of Death face mask

I found this in the workshop a couple of weeks ago.  I have seen this in a Doctor Who TV story.

I'm not going to say anymore yet..  but can anyone say where it was used!  (a pic would be good too!)

I'll give clues later if required.

That was quick..!  ok.. we used to use them as dust masks.  You clip a pad into it and it would have an elastic strap to secure it to your head.

It was used.. as a mask!

To be honest though, I couldn't remember which story it was! 

I've not seen Ambassadors Of Death for about a decade. The reference photo I saw was (I think) of a helicopter pilot.  Is this still the same story?

I was thinking it was a girl pilot, but I may be wrong.  I can't find that reference photo now though which I have seen this last few months.

Last week I found one of these masks with a filter in it.  Typically I can't find that now either.. so I've done a 'Russell' and rustled one up out of paper towels!  Willingly modelled by Hannah here..

The bad guys used an odd looking gas mask in this episode. 
The best I can figure from the blurry screencaps I got, is the mask a loop, ring, hoop, mask that drapes over the top of the actors head. The glasses are glued or magnetically attached to the face plate.
I was thinking using magnetic tape on the plate & a neodymium magnet in the glasses ear rest on the back.

The metal mask bit is made by Martindale.  We haven't used them for years, but it looks like you can still buy them!
