Okay, having an odd moment.  Was just reading a thread on OG where someone posted screencaps from a BBC christmas promotional ad and lo and behold - what is hanging in shot????

Are they having a laugh or just have a lot of these things hanging around?!

(YEs, I know it's a smaller model, but still!)    :D

Well spotted Glen! The BBC must have bought the entire stock of their local B&Q for their props department or something!  :o

As for Catherine Tate (for people who haven't seen her before, she has her own comedy show on the BBC..) I thought that's what you mean't by
what is hanging in shot????
;D  I'm not a big fan of CT.., but this is one for a caption contest, surely  ;)

cheers
Chris

LOL!

It's probably just as well that they didn't go to B&Q for props on a bank holiday - or they might have got a 'managers special'..:

According to the slate, that was recorded in February, whereas the majority of Bride was filmed back in July.  Interesting.

I live in the states and was wondering how I might be able to get one of these? It would be nice to have sitting around inspiring me to build. :)

You might be able to actually get one in the States. I had two lamps, one I got from the UK, and one that was sent to me finished from Kylash in the US, where he bought it at a Menards or something.

Good luck though!

Ah.  I can see the resemblance.

I would be willing to buy one and ship it over to you if I can find one. I did this for our friend Dr. Iz. Postage isn't cheap though

creativeguy - Chris is absolutely right about the postage, but well worth the investment to have an authentic 2005/06 TARDIS lantern.  I can dig up the receipt if you want to know how much to expect, presuming that the B&Q still has the lanterns in stock. I do believe our friend Purple, posted somewhere on TR2 that the lanterns come off the shelves in fall and re-materialize in spring.

Cheers,
Jon

Work is beginning on my original style lamp with a Fresnel, this week :)

Thanks! Menards? Hm... I wonder if I could just get one there. I wonder if I have one near me. -laughs-

That would be great. About how much was it?

That would be great! I really appreciate the help :)

If I can't find one here in the states I'd really appreciate help getting one from elsewhere.

So having watched Runaway Bride now with great interest, was anyone else enjoying all the TARDISy shots?  There were some lovely detail of the doors and windows inside and out in frame along with the newly relocated console room set looking (to my eye) as if the coral supports had all been broken around the middle and then patched up in the new studio but not quite perfectly.  And weren't there a lot of garden lamps!?  Also nice to see the console letting a bit of steam out again (oh, and what happened to the early Eccleston theory of TARDIS flight being bumpy and dangerous?  Makes Doc 9 look a bit of a bad pilot nowadays...  Also a few nice shots of some console controls and the gallifreyan script on the some of them and did you notice that someo f the lights behind the glass of the roundalls were pulsating?  nice touch though it also be nice to have the lighting be a bit more consistent between DoPs. Not quite as pulsate-y as the disco lights at the end of "The Doctor dances" though!

Okay, probably no-one else here wanted to hear any of that but if I cna't talk enthusiastically about TARDIS things here then where else can I go to get it out of my head?  :D

Wondering if anyone can give details on the B&Q Tardis lamp everyone has spoken about, possibly a photo or website URL's?

Friends are going to be in the UK this year and I'd love them to pick up the right item if it looks good.

Thanks if anyone can help.

Change that request I have now found them and have a google searchable name

Gardman Parisian Lantern

after a lead towards Gardman, a phone call to the UK head office has produced a product name, and lo and behold there are at least 6 online retailers selling them at 9-99 pounds. So this info is here FYI

cheers all
