1996 TV movie wooden TARDIS build

C'est la vie!

No need to apologise. We all know life is a *insert insult of choice* who likes to get in the way and prevent you from working in what you want to do.

Well... I've actually progrèssed a bit, the doors are not yet hinged, but soon i guess. Paint will also be a a yhing to come, how ever, currently, the weather doesn't allow me to do it in the best way. I'll also need to go fined and fit the light fixtures (i'm imaginating a système for making the inside of the box pitch blanc while still having the windows lighted yup). I also need to work and the floor on wich i can' t find any refrence matérial.
Any way, here are the picturesIMG_20210114_022730_176.jpgIMG_20210114_022727_558.jpgIMG_20210114_022725_630.jpg

It looks fantastic! I've just made a 3d model and am thinking about building a 1:5 model you've really captured the essence and textures of the box

Good news, things went well today, i've hinged and finished the door, i also fited the windows (photos later), blocked out the light siping out betwin the pannels, posts and base; and i'm now ready for paint exept for the phone pannel. I also need to found if there is a lock on the left door inside bottom (i've made the top one, but i'm note sure there is one down simetricaly... And if there is, i need it to be fonctionnal, not like the one on the top where you can juste pull the little tab)

Definitly ready for paint, only the floor, lights and windows are left to fit.i'm exausted.
I've graphics printed yestuday, but they came out blanc and white, so'll try and fix it tomorow hope fully
IMG_20210116_025226_772.jpgIMG_20210116_025228_495.jpgIMG_20210116_025230_232.jpgIMG_20210116_031451_447.jpg

Paint is done, nothing much to say. I'm extremly happy about the color. It looks a bit akward irl, a bit of with day light, but un the dark it's spot on i think. Next on my todo list is the windows, inside black cards and light effects. Maybe a bit of weathering, looking at the pictures, i see a bit of grinm on the bottom base. I also need to go back to the printing shop for the graphics. Oh and the lamp to. Windows work, i manage to make the hammered glass panels with my soldering iron's stand
IMG_20210118_034659_459.jpgIMG_20210118_034658_150.jpgIMG_20210118_034700_624.jpgIMG_20210118_034702_684.jpg

And here a more pictures of today's progrès i'm weathered a bit the basse. It's very light. I tried to simulate the drie stuff left after rain on the bottom of the box, i'm happy with that. IMG_20210118_034646_895.jpg

Also here are my prototypes for the hammered look, i tied a couple before finding the right oneIMG_20210118_034654_888.jpgIMG_20210118_034653_311.jpgIMG_20210118_034651_442.jpgIMG_20210118_034649_044.jpgIMG_20210118_034650_643.jpg

Interesting! I'm mostly unhappy with the current blue of my TARDIS because it looks too light to me, but your daylight pics are about the shade mine is.  I'd still like mine to be darker but at least I've got validation from someone with a good eye for detail that my color is actually fairly accurate.

[member=1524]Volpone[/member] i went and look, it's a cool tardis you got^^ maybe it's something more desaturated that you might be looking for instead of darker. a bit of both maybe. the color you've got right now is very shiny and saturated, kinda like the original met box  were (or at least most of the one left and restored are now).tardis blue saturated.png

So, i've got my prints done right and i bought lights. I have quite à few spare to go for the incoming projets, wich shall be the series 5box (because for some reasons it grew à lot on me the past year) and à sylvestre Mccoy style box (may be my favourit classic doctor, i don't know, i'm a believe that no doctor so far as been à miss cast, not 6th nor 13th (wich i quite realy like, even tho i  don't like the stores she's mostly been given... Anyway X) ))
I'm fiting the light i the roof to check out if i go for cold white(wich i believe was the hue on the original) or warm(like the other litted tardie) so far, i think i'll go for cold, but i'm curious to see what you think. I'll try to installé the correct blue graphics on and then i'll call it done i think. Couplé of out door shots and scènes and the may be i'll keep it, or may be i'll try to put it on eBay or some thing. I don't know what it's worth but i could use some money right now.

Anyway, here are some pictures :

IMG_20210120_221326_782.jpg temporary placement, i'll tidy it up later

IMG_20210120_221325_701.jpgIMG_20210120_221323_794.jpg irl those lights are white, but in pictures they look bluish. color grading my pictures like the movie was shall make the light back to white and the paint job apear à darker more purple color. Wich was what i look for.

IMG_20210120_221322_520.jpg no color grading

It's funny, I'm one of the biggest proponents of "the blue doesn't matter, the light will change and it will look totally different in a minute" argument but this is one that I'll have to come back to as proof.  I'd have never believed that blue was dark enough for the Hudolin TARDIS, but with lighting appropriate to the way it was shot it is dead-on.  You almost expect Paul McGann and/or Sylvester McCoy to be stepping out of it.  Very nice.

i'm very happy to hear those words, it fills me with joy. i'm actualy pretty happy to see that the color is enjoeyed. tbh, the dark purple is quite iconic, i went for "acuracy" (techinicaly i don't know the exact hue, but here is my guess) but i have to say, if i were to remake it for an eye pleasing desplay piece, i would have go for the dark purple. irl, the blue feels a bit wierd compared to the other boxes. i'm not a sucker for saturated color and this box is quite a saturated blue irl. my goal was for the box to look screen acurate, and for a first shot in the dark, i'm happy. and i'm even more happy to see some peaps enjoye it.

Some more news, i've ask for a reprit of the graphics, now they are the right color(but for some reasons thé size is of. I might get them reprint again, but for now i'm done with that. The sign boxes looks good enought.
I treated my self by mounting à shelf on top of my work desk. It was laying around for a while and it is now use full. Some day i'll make à craft work station at some point too.
Sooo... Yeah new update. Talking about color, in my project pipeline will be the new séries 5 tardis on wich i'm trying to find out it's color. I thought it was a blue woodstain, tho appartly it's subaru blue that was sprayed on it. I've known for a while that the lamp was sprayed with that refrence of paint, but i've some doubte the wood it self was. Still digin' that i guess. I'll have time to think about it, before starting that, i'll have to do a studio scale miniature appartement. Wish will take quite some time. Maybe i'll post à bit about it

Thx Russell ^^
I still have the lamp left to do tho. I'm  still looking for stuff i could recyclé.
I'm kinda developping a lining for tardis in the dark appréciation. Promos to the the props désigners, so far, in the dark, i can still tell wich is wich. Just by the window shape, righting font and light température.
