Recently after watching 'The Doctors Wife' and seeing a wider view of the 2010 era TARDIS interior, I decided I wanted to try and recreated the interior within the Unreal Engine. With this, I started off with the creation of the corridors. This took about an afternoon to make and consists of four assets; wall, arch, door and floor/ceiling.

I'm not sure what to make next, but I will probably have to use the Doctor Who Adventure Games as reference. Any suggestions would be gladly taken!

I will say one of my main problems is the lighting, its very difficult to try and perfectly replicate what we saw on screen, so this is not the final product.

These models were created using 3DS Max and Substance Painter, and then imported into the Unreal Engine. HighresScreenshot00000.png

This is definitely well made. Well done. As for lighting, I think it looks great. It looks like when House was playing around with Amy's mind making the place seem darker. I hope there isn't an Ood behind that door.

Dichwer, this thread might help <cough> shed a little more light on your corridor problems: http://tardisbuilders.com/index.php?topic=2472.0. Granted there aren't that many screen grabs in it from "The Doctor's Wife", but the ones it does have are nice ones.

Here's a quick update.

Well not really an update, but a showcase, which do you prefer, the darker or the lighter, I'm not sure which I prefer myself so its all up to you guys!HighresScreenshot00001.pngHighresScreenshot00002.png

If this is going to be a level in unreal engine, I think the corridors should start out totally grey and then as you get deeper The Tunnels should start to darken. Makes it atmospheric.
why doesn't the Guide mention them? - Oh, it's not very accurate.
Oh? - I'm researching the new edition.

This looks great!! (At first you'd think these were photos of the actual set - that's how realistic the renders are! :o) With regards to your question, I think the lighter one looks best, but that's only because you can see the render more clearly. ;)

Also, I may be missing something here, but what is "unreal engine"?

https://www.unrealengine.com/what-is-unreal-engine-4

Bioshock 1 & 2 was made with Unreal Engine 2
Bioshock Infinite was made with Unreal Engine 3

Many games use the Unreal Engine infrastructure.

DOCTOR: It's got to be unreal transfer.
ROMANA: Why has it got to be?
DOCTOR: It's the only way to manipulate solid objects.
ROMANA: What if I told you this part of the galaxy doesn't discover unreal transfer until 2386?
DOCTOR: Then how is it done?
ROMANA: I don't know.
why doesn't the Guide mention them? - Oh, it's not very accurate.

I agree with 14th. That looks amazing! I also agree on the lighter one showing off more of the detail.

Quick question on the color of the lighting (and this is open to everyone), but since the only time we got to see these corridors was when The House had taken over the TARDIS, and turned everything green (even the console room), would the lighting in these corridors still be green under normal conditions, or would their lighting be slightly amber like the console room's? (Remember, the previous console room was amberish when Amy and Rory first entered, and then it turned green once The House took over that room as well. So it's possible that these corridors would have had more amber lighting to fit in with the rest of the TARDIS.)

Thoughts on that?

I think you're right with that one Dino. Since these corridors are directly connected to this particular console room, it makes sense that they would have the same lighting (similar to how the corridors coming off the new console room in Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS were more dimly-lit and industrial.)

warmcanofcoke: Wow! Thanks for that link. So if I'm understanding this correctly, this could be made into a game once it is finished? That would be so cool! ;D

So it looks like everyones decided they prefer the lighter corridor more, so that's what I'll go with. Here's a screenshot below.HighresScreenshot00003.png

Not much progress made today, but I have started on creating a 'junction' (can't think of the right word  :-[ ) to be put in the corridor. It's a very basic model for now with no lighting which explains why it can't be seen all to well in the image, but I thought I'd just show it off to you guys!
