Great screen grabs, Chris! ("Excellent!" ;)) Thanks for posting them. This is also the cybergun used in "The Five Doctors", so you might be able to get more screen grabs from there as well and add them to this.

I think Mooncreat sells pieces of this version of the cybergun for people building their own. The parts - at least some of them - are a bit pricey, but when you can't find them anywhere else and the replica parts are pretty much screen accurate, sometimes it's worth the money if you've got it to spare.

I love these Cyberguns, but it always annoyed me that the tape markings differ between each prop...

Given the lack of individuality you would expect the Cyber-Race to go for uniformity and not pimp up their own weaponry :D

Here's a nice clear image of the Cyber-gun, taken from the Doctor Who: The Vault book.

The front of barrel was an 1980s car air freshener. Casts of these air fresheners are available at mooncrest models.

why doesn't the Guide mention them? - Oh, it's not very accurate.
Oh? - I'm researching the new edition.

Tracked down some commonly used materials used in Cybergun replicas.

Mooncrest uses red "Tulle" inside the barrels of their cybergun pictures.

And I was poking around on some BB8 Builders forums and they like to use Aluminum Tape / foil tape.

Great for giving objects that Metal look.

Watch from 10:17 minutes in to 11:05

also comes in Copper Foil tape.

All useful stuff for making useful props from our favorite shows.

Liked the video, it's very informative of the workings used. cleaver with how he does the metal look too, BUT love what's in the background to the left of them. Glad that it got it's place there.  :D 8)

Look at all of those bots! (That would be like Robot Heaven for me!) I wonder if there was a K-9 scurrying around where that TARDIS was. (It also makes me wonder if there was a Lost In Space Robot in there somewhere.)

And I loved that video. (I'll have to show that one to my kid. He'll go nuts with it, especially if those BB8 files are still available. He'll find some way of printing them for his Library Booth at the Tidewater Comic Con.)

Ah, who doesn't like a cute little droid with personality?  :) Gotta admit I think I'd rather have a BB-8 (or WALL-E) than an R2, although I do have a soft spot for T3-M4 from the old Knights of the Old Republic games.

That does not compute!

WALLE-SonicScrewdriver(small).jpg
But WALL-E does love his sonic screwdriver! :D

And really... who wouldn't love his own personal Gigantor?
gigantor(small).jpg
Yes; that Gigantor is life-sized, and that is The Evil One standing next to his ankle for size comparison (she's 5'3"). She took this to torment me since she's teaching in Japan, and she knows how much I love Gigantor!

You didn't specify which robot had to be holding the Cybergun... ;)

Sorry, back on topic. :P Here's an image I found that's supposedly one of the original, screen-used props.

I'm also curious to know why all the images in this thread show the gun to be silver, but then the photo I posted from the Doctor Who: The Vault book looks more gold? ???

The guns were painted a green/gold colour for Attack of the Cybermen. They also had some strange looking nipple details added to the gun body as well.

Rassilons Rod

I'd understood that the golden colouration was a result of age. They've tarnished...
