why doesn't the Guide mention them? - Oh, it's not very accurate.
Oh? - I'm researching the new edition.

Great grabs as always, Nate! Thanks for taking the time to get them and post them. Some of those images with the lines of text on them do make me wonder, as others have, whether or not we're seeing the BASIC programming used to generate those shapes on the screens, and the number "countdown".

The grabs give a nice look at the bezels around the monitors as well, and the ones with those numbers in them remind me of the screens on the consoles in Year 2 of 'Space: 1999'. (That was about 9 or so years earlier, but the BASIC commands used to generate those numbers would be the same.)

Thanks again for another great set of grabs, Nate. Those from "Vengeance On Varos" have what looks like a block diagram on the monitor. I've seen diagrams like that for electronic, electrical, and mechanical systems. (You can even find some in the Star Trek: The Next Generation Technical Manual. It would be poetic to use a block diagram from there, especially when you remember the one computer readout from that ST: TNG episode that listed the Classic Doctors' actors' names, and the years they were in the role. I know that image is posted on here somewhere, but as usual because I'm looking for it, I can't find it!)

The images from "Mark OF The Rani" almost look like that expanding, rotating square with a grid overlay on top of it. I wonder if they used the same graphic programming to get that box, and had a second input to the monitor that overlaid the grid on it. (I haven't worked with BASIC since May of 1980, so I don't know if both can be done from the same program.)

That sounds like a graphic I'd like to see. ;)

You're in luck, Nate! I found it... well, sort of:
familytree-theneutralzone3.jpg
The episode was "The Neutral Zone", which was I believe the final episode of Season 1 (spring of 1988), and could explain why Sylvester McCoy's name isn't on this list; his episodes hadn't really made it over to this side of the pond yet. I was a bit wrong on it showing the years each actor held the role. This was a family tree that Councilor Troi was going through looking for descendants of a character they'd thawed out of suspended animation. Those first six names on the left are unmistakable. (Sadly, they changed those displays for the BluRay release and the Doctors' actors' names aren't there anymore, and in previous screens the TNG actors' names have been made less obvious than they were during the original airing. Read the web site below; it's loaded with details. The image above is with two other such screens a ways down the page, so scroll slowly.)

The post is here, courtesy of Marc (rassilonsrod): http://tardisbuilders.com/index.php?topic=2281.15msg16508#msg16508 - the post with links to many more images of 'Trek' props and ship models in other productions, other production models in 'Trek', 'Who' references... generally a super cross-reference list of all intermixed SF images and props. It's staggering!
