I hadn't seen the faux wood flooring you put in your box, it looks fantastic with the doorway halfway open!  Really neat little addition that I hadn't seen on a police box before.

I'll have to either skin my in-progress police box floor with the same bamboo flooring we used for the base of the screen used TVM console + my house (I have a couple of cases left), or some sort of laminate with the Persian rug from the entryway of the set printed on it.

That's a good idea Brian, with the Persian rug print. But even the bamboo flooring alone would look nice. With the Eccleston Tennant box, it just made sense since we see the entry way of the console room leads right up to the doors of the police box. Even the screen used props just had black flooring for this style box, but I liked the thought of seeing the wood flooring. Plus it'll go nicely when I one day have a backdrop in place of the 9/10 console room.

What else can I say that hasn't already been said? Erm... I wish I had friends like yours... I wish we lived closer together (Virginia Beach is a bit of a haul from PA, though I still have relatives in East Stroudsburg and Bangor)... and, well...

Ha! Thanks for that! I know I got lucky with friends like this :) Right place, right time, good friends = dream come true. A police box was always a big want but I never thought it would ever happen. And then it did. Crazy.

If it were not for the construction pics I'd have thought some of these were photo-shopped the prop looks that good. Although it was hard to concentrate, I did find the handsome chap in the glasses quite distracting.

I have no construction pics for that guy, which may be for the best! Thank you for the compliments! I could hardly believe my eyes when I saw this box fully built for the first time and it was just bare wood then. Once the paint was finished, I was still surprised it was mine.

I SO know what you mean!

You dream of one day having your own TARDIS & then suddenly there it is!!
It really is a childhood dream come true!

I think It's something "normal" people will never understand...
Maybe the closest comparison would be getting a new sports car or something....

(Still rather have a TARDIS......)

Russell

Terrasolo

Oh yeah, it's very similar to the sports car but still so far away because if you get the right job, those are on every corner car dealer, but a Police Box? For years I thought those were only in England, then I saw them pop up here but even still; where would you keep one? How do you move it? How do you make it?! Yeah, it's crazy to have one now and so damn cool.

I took old girl out this past Sunday for a photoshoot with some friends, the main intent being for my friend Victoria who debuted her 13th Doctor cosplay. While in the park, I grabbed a few shots that I felt would be worthwhile posting here.

THAT is a grogeous TARDIS build, loving the little details, and that beautiful parquet flooring. :)

karsthotep

gorgeous precision build,  Envious of the wood working skills that went into that.   I really want to see that in person Bri!!!
I want notes, lists and answers by the time I finish this here Juicy-a-Box! WARNING: I am Thirst-ay! And it is Fruit Punch! And it is Delicious!"

Very nice! Clear skies and a bright sun create lovely lighting. I particularly like the one with the sun/lens-flare that perfectly lines up with the lamp!  :D
Any chance your friend will let you show us her cosplay? Seeing a Doctor with a Tardis is always a great image :)
A mixed-up non-conformist, trying to fit in.

Lovely box but I always found an issue with the "air brushed" like paint job, almost painted like its intended for the stage.
The colours are all there, its just the feathering.. maybe an even better way to describe it is texture created from paint?

Thank you! I worked hard to get the sun lined up for that shot! Well, I asked her and she said okay! So here are some shots of the three of us from that day. Two of us had what we now refer to as Gallifreyan Beard Flu, Which as all Time Lords know takes quite a bit to recover from.

Thank you! The floor was the best match I could get to the Eccleston/Tennant style floor of the console room. All the other parts were sourced to match or are the same as used in the show, which I'm thrilled with.

So let's make plans then! I do want to get some shots and maybe even a short film of the two Police Boxes together, I think it would make for some great photos.

I'm not actually sure what you mean here, the box didn't use airbrushing, aside from the window panes, but then I don't think you meant actual airbrushing. The weathering effect used is a classic paint wash, which of course was also used on the Eccleston/Tennant box, as well as many fan builds. A way to make ti look used rather than pristine, which is a look that  I don't really care for myself. I much prefer a weathered and worn in TARDIS look. Or is the dark wash look what you don't like? I get that, we all have our favorite looks for anything, let alone Police Boxes. It's all just a personal preference thing.

russellsuthern

WOW!
Those great pictures just keep coming!
That's some of the best cosplay I've seen in a long time!
You all look great... But I have to say I like number 13 best...

More, please!
