I have made 4 of these in my life.  This is the last one I made and it's held up for 13 years now.  Hopefully this inspires the folks who can't afford wood.

That is awesome!  Making it from an appliance box is a good idea, getting nice, large single pieces of Cardboard, and keeping the structural integrity of the original box. 

When I was in college, there was a small number of dedicated Who Fans there.  One of our number locked himself in his dorm room for about a week and a half, and cobbled together an awesome cardboard TARDIS out of any type of packaging style cardboard he could find, and LOTS Of Duct-tape.  He made each (dunno the terminology) each component individually, the panels, the ridges, finishing with a roof peice.  The result was very cool.  You COULD tell that it was made from hundreds of different types of boxes, a bit "patchwork-quilt-like" TARDIS but it was really solid, had a lot of character (the duct tape, painted over, gave it a nice weathered look all of its own) and it brought a smile to many faces. 

I do not have a picture, sadly.  I didn't have a camera at the time.  So that's a bummer... however, i just joined this message board.  Maybe the original builder is on here, and posted pictures!

I see a merchandise possibility in this. The ultimate flatpack TARDIS. When not in use, simply fold it up and pop it behind the wardrobe.  Good stuff Bill!

Dunno about you Bill, but I always find working with card and paper so much easier than any other material.

Looks great for 13 years old, time has no bearing on the CARD-DIS!   Great use of a Fidge box too!  Very ingenious Bill.   8-)

I was thinking it could be marketed as a 'portable camping out house!'- bigger on the inside than the outside...sometimes you need that sort of thing...anyway, mind as well go in style...   joke!

I thought that this was an appropriate place for these photos.


Made this about 15 years ago.  These are recent photos, and the back wall is shown.  I didn't photograph the front because the doors have taken a beating over the years from my nieces and nephews.  There isn't a straight line on the thing, i drew it freehanded and cut the windows and doors with scissors.

WOW! 15 years?  and it still stands up???  very cool!
I wish I still had my old K-9 I build in highschool...all styrofoam ans spray paint!

It lives at my mother's house.  I'm kinda surprised that she hasn't thrown it away, I think she must be a wee bit proud of it.  The front looks awfull, but if those kids have had fun with it, I don't mind.  Even though they don't really know what it is.
