It's finished!

And guess who absolutely loved it?

The only handmade additions I made to the costume were the crimson lanyard and the Browning Hi-Power. I found better paracord and braided the lanyard myself with a 4-strand braid, just like the Brigs. The Browning is just a dollar store water pistol with a few coats of black paint.

Everything else was just found and added to the costume: The Sam Browne Belt, British No. 2 Dress Trousers (REAL ones) and dark brown combat boots, which cannot be seen in the photo. I didn't bother with the gloves because I would have had to keep taking them on and off for the day, but if I get a proper shoot done, I'll wear them then.

Here's a couple more shots with more details of the costume:

It saddens me to tell a pretty young woman to wear more clothes, but the Marine in me breaks out in hives over the service coat without a blouse and neck covering under it.  I mean, you rock it, but if you get a chance, do a version with a khaki shirt and some kind of tie, please?  :) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uniforms_of_the_United_States_Marine_Corps#/media/File:DutyDressOfficer.jpg

Oh, and you could carry the gloves in your left hand.  Right hand is always free for saluting.  Speaking of which, you need a Captain Yates or Sergeant Benton to carry at least one of your bags in case you need to salute anyone.

Well, all of the photos I could find of the Brig in this uniform - all too small to be worth posting - show him in either a white or off-white shirt and a tan/khaki tie, so that would be the way to go. (Remember: this isn't a US Marine uniform; it's a British U.N.I.T. uniform.)

I've call dibs on Benton! Can you recommend a military Tailor or Seamstress? I am all about having an outfit made to measure. Someplace with a good review.

Failing that, can someone direct me to a place that sells bolts of the appropriate fabric and a pattern?

I want to make this happen.
why doesn't the Guide mention them? - Oh, it's not very accurate.
Oh? - I'm researching the new edition.

Correct! An I was wearing a tank underneath. I wasn't ENTIRELY bare underneath. It just gets bloody hot at cons. Haha. I am still waiting for my Service Dress and Tie to come in the mail! I ordered them MONTHS ago and they have yet to come to my doorstep.

No, but he did give me a very firm handshake and called me "Brig"
