I've searched the forum and we don't appear to have a reference topic for this little prop, so I thought I'd make one for posterity. :)

Some concept art for the prop (although sadly no measurements or other indications on the size)

And here we have a screengrab from the episode, cropped to show the warp-star in more detail.

From what I can remember, the diamond part looked about 20mm in diameter. If you search eBay (or probably any other online store) you can find a variety of "glass diamond paperweights" which would be perfect for a prop such as this (although I've yet to find any that are as small as 20mm - the closest I've seen so far is 30mm)

Kind regards, The14thDr :D

the 20mm ones exist, I have some, search for "crystal diamonds" that should bring them up. I've been wanting this for quite some time but haven't got "a round tuit" yet. Got the diamonds, but not done anything with them. May have to get of my butt & do it. LMSO

let us know if you need more screen shots. I have some on my HDD already.  :)

Thanks for the info on that Davros Skaro! I've managed to find some now that will be the perfect size for this build. :)

That would be great thanks (we can never have too many photos of props ;D)

I can't wait to see your build if/when you get round to it (I'm particularly interested in how you'll replicate the gold strips around the diamond)

Kind regards, The14thDr :D

They are what has me stalled at the moment, how to do the frame!  :-\
But I'm still thinking on it. Thought of taking to a Jewelers (with a photo) to see what it would cost to have done in silver (being the cheaper option to gold).

Here are the pics I have.

Brilliant! Thanks Davros Skaro!

I think you might be onto a winner with your idea of taking the diamond to a jewellers to have that frame added (that's something I may have to consider for my build)

Thanks for posting those grabs, Chris. With the actors' hands (and faces) in shot for comparison it might help determine the size. The grabs look a little compressed width-wise, so maybe those 30mm "crystal diamonds" might be closer to the dimensions once the images are adjusted for the compression?

As for the frame, hobby and craft stores have thin (really thin) sheet brass. Something like that could be used for the frame, rather than having to pay for a jeweler to make one and hope they get it right. Those craft stores also have small brass tubes that would do well for the ring on top of the frame. A fine-toothed saw and burnishing tool would make a nice ring from one of those small tubes. That is, if you didn't have a broken piece of jewelry with the right-sized ring on it that you could cannibalize.

Either some super glue, or if one is adept with a fine-tipped soldering iron, would put the frame around the crystal diamond well enough. If you look at the detailed close-up image of the warp star, you'll see the frame looks like it was cut from a + shaped piece of gold/brass metal and then just bent around the "diamond", and then had the ring for the chain attached to the top where the legs of that + come together (and not all that well either; just look at how two legs overlap, and the one leg facing us isn't even touching the ring or those overlapping legs). That concept art shows the frame far more fancy than how it was actually built.

I hope some of this babbling is helpful.

As always, that was very helpful Dino. Thanks for your input on this. :)

I don't want to speak for Davros Skaro, but you've definitely given me a lot to consider if I eventually get round to replicating this prop.

HAHAHA! I've already given thought to all those things Dino, I've been pondering this for over a year now off &  on, even made a little mold from clay to pour my own frame in silver or hot glue even, but alas, not got anywhere, YET! I will someday. LMSO  :D 8)

These are basically what you want for this prop

They're also good for the White Point Star, as it's the same size. I must find where all those little buggers went....

I have actually made this necklace, I
can't remember where the picture of it went, but the best way of making it is to have two pieces of metal probably laser cut into the profile of the outer edge of the plastic diamond, one that slots into the other so that it gives you the four struts, and the
top one to have the ring to connect it to the necklace if that makes sense. I tried it with acrylic and it wasnt strong enough, so I ended up using welded wire. I'm going to have to try and find the picture....

This is the one I have, it's 20mm, have 2 of them, one as a "White point star" & the other for this "Warp star pendant". I also have some 25mm ones, but they seem too big. Mine are cut crystal glass from Ebay that I got some years ago.

Here's a pic of the one I have.
