William Hartnell was my first Doctor, and I have been a fan since seeing the show on the CBC back in 1965.
Building my own TARDIS didn't occur to me until I saw a few builds on line, and I was hooked.  I hope I don't
incur a lot of criticism because my TARDIS will end up looking like a TARDIS, but it will be a bit of a hybrid.

I modified the pillars to give a more substantial profile.

The position of the barn light in the next photo was accidental, but some how appropriate.  :)

Welcome aboard! Looks like you're off to a flying start.
Don't worry about people's reaction to building a hybrid. Lots of people build hybrids that combine their favourite features from several props, in pursuit of the 'ideal' Tardis. So you'll be in good company.
Most any issue you're likely to encounter will have been seen by someone here, so feel free to ask or browse around.

Yup.  Very nice.  I like your structure--the technical carpentry aspects--and your proportional choices.  Nice, classic series rectangular panels and big beefy cornerposts.  And it amuses me, how the garage light lines up about perfectly to look like the signal lamp.  Serendipity or design?

One bit of unsolicited advice, if you don't mind:  If you're doing an outdoor box, it is worth the extra effort to bevel at least the top edges of the panel trim.  Otherwise it gives water a place to pool and get between the trim and the plywood (or MDF(?) in this case).  90% of the rot on my build is at the spots where the outside trim meets the plywood.  From the inside, I have a grid-shaped pattern of rotted away plywood.
"My dear Litefoot, I've got a lantern and a pair of waders, and possibly the most fearsome piece of hand artillery in all England. What could possibly go wrong?"

Off to an amazing start, sir!  Did you add the radius as a separate trim piece or do some really clever jiggery-pokery with a router?

I feel like I'm a real slowpoke by comparison...

You are off to a great start!
Don't worry about building a hybrid, a large amount of the builds on TB are a mix of different styles.
Keep up the good work, looking forward to seeing it come together.

(Ps: And that's a mightily impressive beard you have there, too, sir!)

All the best,

Russell

I want notes, lists and answers by the time I finish this here Juicy-a-Box! WARNING: I am Thirst-ay! And it is Fruit Punch! And it is Delicious!"

I haven't been working steadily, but I am making some progress.

Looking real good, making excellent progress on that build.

I agree!
You have made great progress & she looks really good.
Will she stay indoors, or will she live outdoors?

Working on the roof (yes I make it up as I go along).
The beacon lamp is concocted from an outside door light, plywood,
some dowels and a pot lid.

Police Box sign templates.  I will handcraft my signs.

Not as easy as I thought, but it's working.

Starting to add some blue.

Sign turned out pretty well, only three more to go.

I couldn't wait, I had enough painted to mock up the front of my TARDIS.

Here's the beacon light.

Windows framed.

This is it, I have two more Police Box signs to build and install and I can call it complete.

When I move it outside I'll put the phone behind it's door and run some power for the beacon light.
