I've decided to try my hand at this little prop using only the items below, in as little time as possible.

Five minutes in and I've made a template for the card. Inspired by Davros Skaro's build (http://tardisbuilders.com/index.php?topic=7419) I made a little jig for lining up all of the text correctly.

More updates soon (let's see if I can finish this in less than an hour ;))

Kind regards, The14thDr :D

Timer: +50 minutes = 55 minutes

For the cards I'm using one layer of cereal box card sandwiched between two pieces of paper, and the black stripe is just electrical tape trimmed to 15mm wide.

I don't think I'll get these finished in an hour, but I am working on four of these at once, so I don't think I'm doing too bad. ;)

Kind regards, The14thDr :D

Using the jig I made earlier, I added the Old High Gallifreyan to the cards.

And for the wax seals I used hot glue.

Expect the final update soon.

How do you paint the hot glue? If you use a paint brush you'll have to tape off the sides, & the way the stamp looks, that would be difficult.

Suggestion: Find yourself some Black hot glue sticks.

The14thDr

I've just finished painting the seals, and I used a really fine paint brush and a steady hand, so there was no need to mask off the sides.

OK,.. Well, still, If anyone else wants to build a card they now know, they can save time by using black hot glue instead of an unsteady hand (me, SPLAT), trying to say inside of the coloring book lines. (aka painting clear hot glue) :)

Finished in just over 2 hours build time. :)

I painted the glue "seal" using black acrylic paint, a tiny paintbrush and a very steady hand.

The question mark design was cut out of cardboard and glued into place...

... And painted with some gold acrylic paint. Not bad for two hours' work. ;D ;D

Very innovative use of hot glue to represent the wax seal 14th, very convincing.

As for black hot glue sticks Elkad, I've never hear of them. Can you get different colours?

You are truly amazing, 14th! Not only do those look spectacular, but you've also managed to knock our four of those cards in less time than it takes me to wake up and get out of bed in the mornings!

Incidentally, a few sources:

Black Hot Glue sticks on Amazon

Black Hot Glue sticks at Walmart

Black Hot Glue sticks at ModDIY.com

There are many others, but black hot glue sticks (and other colors) do exist.

Thanks guys! You can indeed get coloured hot glue sticks (as Dino has shown); you can even get glitter varieties! ;D

I often find it actually saves time to build multiple copies of a prop at the same time, rather than spending 2 hours making one, then another 2 hours making the second the next day (plus I felt like keeping some spares handy in case I creased the original ;))

I must say I've enjoyed working on this little prop; it's so simple to make yet instantly recognisable (or at least to us Whovians anyway :P)

WOW, you've done some brilliant work there, well done, cleaver idea using hot glue too.
