With two of my builds completed today and another very close to completion, I allowed myself the liberty of taking on another project. ;) This time, another classic-era prop.

I've always wanted the Second Doctor's etheric wave detector, but one thing that's always stopped me was recreating the coiled wire across the top.

However, with some of the spare wire coat hangers left over from my http://tardisbuilders.com/index.php?topic=7600.0, I had the perfect starting point.  :)

I then made a cardboard net for the main body (mine measure 8x5x3cm - thanks to troughtonstrousers for kindly giving me the measurements of his fantastic build.)

And a sneak peek of where I'm at so far:

More updates soon.

Awesome! Would you mind posting a couple of examples? I'm completely new to the classic era (having only seen a handful of serials) so to be perfectly honest with you I don't even know what props the 2nd Doctor had (aside from that classic recorder of course) ;D
I'm always looking to expand my classic-era props collection. :)

You could always put them on this page if they are finished & have not "build Diary": http://tardisbuilders.com/index.php?board=110

To give my etheric wave detector a bit of weight and make it feel more like an actual gadget than just a hollow cardboard box, I stuffed the prop with tiny balls of newspaper.

I then used plenty of tape to hold the box together.

Well, if any of you have been following my http://tardisbuilders.com/index.php?topic=7804 build, you'll know I've been in a bit of a Second Doctor mood lately, so I decided to crack on and finish off my etheric wave detector.

I was never too happy with the newspaper stuffing, so the other day I removed the back of the prop and lined the inside with modelling clay. Once this had set, I hot glued it into place to keep the cardboard nice and rigid.

Finally for today, I made the 8 buttons for the front of the device. Each button is 2 layers of cereal box card and measures 1x1cm (0.4x0.4")

Next up - painting!
