why doesn't the Guide mention them? - Oh, it's not very accurate.
Oh? - I'm researching the new edition.

I have to agree with Nate, that's great.
Did you do a build diary? if not, do you have more photos to do one?
What did you use for the insides?

Sorry for all the questions, I'm sure others would be interested as well.

The "hamster ball" drive is more sophisticated than the old BBC prop, of course. I'd even suggest the cheaper BB-8 toy as a base, but it needs perforations to let the IR in. A used Spero might work great.

Funny this should come up. At the risk of being too fannish, I considered the Yeti for a fan video in part because they could be done as puppets (made to seem kinetically larger by shooting p120). I already have a wire tessellated pyramid - purchased from CB2 of all places.

I recently purchased a used Sphero 2.0 and I joined the BB8 Builders Club to try and learn their secrets.  ;D

The jacks are easy to spot.  I mean, they look really good, but I got where they came from right away.  The tricky thing is the center column.  I was going to venture a guess, but I have no idea.  If you tell us I know I'm going to go "Duh! Why didn't I see that?"  Or maybe not. Very clever, though.

Your images are great as always, Nate, and thanks once again for grabbing then and sharing them with us. The color ones are especially nice. They show how the TARDIS looks really blue in one image, almost grey in another, and a mix of the two in yet another - and it's all in the same location!

The Yeti colors: great shades of black, brown, grey: bone-color for their claws. (I wonder what color their eyes are when they light up?) The Yeti Control is also a great set of images, even showing the insides. Those photos will be great for any woodcarvers we have among us if they want to make their own. (Or maybe even our virtual builders could render one and have it 3-D printed. With the color images the painting would be relatively easy.)

The Yeti Sphere is an interesting thing. I can't remember seeing one of those before. And troughtonstrousers has done a great job of building one. And I agree with Chris, TT; if you've got any photos for a build diary I'm sure others would love to see how you put this thing together.

This is turning out to be a great thread! Thanks again, Nate!

I don't know if this was mentioned but, the Yeti control sphere was used in "Spearhead From Space", as the ECT (electro convulsion therapy) machine.

Here's a pic I hadn't seen before that turned up on Twitter today. No idea what Alan Whicker was up to.

It's a BBC Press photo released for publication & promotion for Whicker's World episode "A Handful Of Horrors: I Don't Like My Monsters to Have Oedipus Complexes" and is dated 10th November 1967. It's the same programme which features Terry Nation and his Dalek-filled conservatory (the programme was first transmitted in January 1968).

Ah, so not a catfishing Tindr date gone wrong.

I never noticed before that the Yeti had a moustache.
